I have made up my mind that I would not come to you again in sorrow.

For if I grieve your hearts, who is there to make me glad except the one who is made sorrowful by me?

And this is precisely why I wrote this letter: so that when I come, I may not be grieved by those who ought to make me glad. For I am confident about you all, that my joy is also your joy.
