2 Thessalonians 1 – Greeting, Thanksgiving, and Prayer
Paul greets the church in Thessalonica, gives thanks for their growing faith and love amid suffering, and prays that God will make them worthy of His calling.
2 Thessalonians was written to correct misunderstandings about the second coming of the Lord Jesus. Some believers in Thessalonica thought that the day of the Lord had already come, causing them to become anxious and stop working. Paul affirmed that the day had not yet come and would be preceded by various significant events. This letter also encourages the believers to live orderly lives, work diligently, and hold firmly to the true teaching.
