1
“When you divide the land by lot as your inheritance, you shall set apart a portion of the land as a holy offering to the LORD, twenty-five thousand cubits long and twenty thousand cubits wide. The whole area within these borders shall be holy.
2
From this land there shall be for the sanctuary a square of five hundred cubits by five hundred cubits, with a surrounding open space of fifty cubits.
3
From this measured area you shall measure off a section twenty-five thousand cubits long and ten thousand cubits wide; in it shall be the sanctuary, and it shall be most holy.
4
This is the holy portion of the land; it shall belong to the priests who minister in the sanctuary and who come near to serve the LORD. It shall be a place for their houses and a holy area for the sanctuary.
5
The twenty-five thousand cubits in length and ten thousand in width shall belong to the Levites who serve in the house; it shall be their cities, where they live.
6
As the city property you shall appoint five thousand cubits in width and twenty-five thousand cubits in length, adjoining the holy offering. It shall belong to the whole house of Israel.
7
And for the prince there shall be land on both sides of the holy offering and the city property, bordering them on the west and on the east. The portion on the west shall extend to the western boundary, and the portion on the east shall extend to the eastern boundary. Its length shall be the same as one of the tribal portions, from the western boundary to the eastern boundary of the land.
8
This shall be his possession in Israel. And my princes shall no longer oppress my people, but they shall give the land to the house of Israel according to their tribes.”
9
Thus says the Lord GOD: “Enough, O princes of Israel! Put away violence and oppression, and do what is just and right; stop driving my people out of their possession, declares the Lord GOD.
10
You shall have honest scales, an honest ephah, and an honest bath.
11
The ephah and the bath shall be of the same measure, so that the bath contains one-tenth of a homer, and the ephah one-tenth of a homer; the measure shall be according to the homer.
12
The shekel shall be twenty gerahs; twenty shekels plus twenty-five shekels plus fifteen shekels shall make one mina.”
13
This is the special offering that you shall present: one-sixth of an ephah from a homer of wheat and one-sixth of an ephah from a homer of barley.
14
And concerning the ordinance for oil: one-tenth of a bath from a kor; a kor is equal to ten baths.
15
And one lamb from every two hundred from the flocks of the families of Israel. All these shall be for the grain offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offering, to make atonement for them, declares the Lord GOD.
16
All the people of the land shall give this special offering to the prince in Israel.
17
And it shall be the prince’s duty to provide the burnt offerings, the grain offerings, and the drink offerings at the feasts, the new moons, the Sabbaths, and at all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel. He shall provide the sin offering, the grain offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make atonement for the house of Israel.”
18
Thus says the Lord GOD: “In the first month, on the first day of the month, you shall take a young bull without blemish, and you shall cleanse the sanctuary.
19
The priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering and put it on the doorposts of the house and on the four corners of the ledge of the altar and on the posts of the gate of the inner court.
20
You shall do the same on the seventh day of the month for anyone who sins unintentionally and without knowing it. So you shall make atonement for the sanctuary.
21
In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, you shall keep the Passover feast, and for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread.
22
On that day the prince shall provide a bull as a sin offering for himself and for all the people of the land.
23
During the seven days of the feast he shall provide as a burnt offering to the LORD seven bulls and seven rams without blemish each day, and as a sin offering each day one male goat.
24
As a grain offering he shall provide one ephah of flour with each bull and one ephah of flour with each ram, and a hin of oil for each ephah.
25
In the seventh month, on the fifteenth day of the month, at the feast, he shall do the same for seven days: the sin offering, the burnt offering, the grain offering, and the oil.
🌾⚖️🏛️ Summary of Ezekiel 45 – Holy Land, Justice, and Sacred Festivals
Ezekiel 45 continues the vision of the divine order in Israel’s restoration. The Lord gives instructions about the division of the holy land, special portions for the priests, the Levites, and the leader. This chapter also emphasizes justice in leadership, as well as the offerings and holy feasts that must be carried out properly. It is a picture of a people living in holiness, justice, and true worship.
📌 1. The Holy Land Divided for the LORD and His Servants (verses 1–8)
➡️ The LORD appoints a holy tract of land (25,000 cubits × 25,000 cubits)
• The middle portion: for the house of God
• The portion for the priests: dwelling and service
• The portion for the Levites: also a place to dwell
➡️ The leader (king/prince) receives his own portion so that he may not oppress the people
🎯 The land is offered to the LORD and arranged so that social injustice does not occur.
📌 2. A Call for Justice for the Leaders (verses 9–12)
➡️ The LORD rebukes the leaders of Israel: “Enough of violence and plunder!”
➡️ They are commanded to use honest scales, measures, and weights
➡️ Standard measures are set: ephah, bath, shekel, and mina
🎯 True worship does not happen only in the temple, but also in social and economic justice.
📌 3. Offerings to Be Brought by the Leader (verses 13–17)
➡️ The leader is responsible to present:
• daily burnt offerings
• peace offerings
• grain offerings
➡️ He must provide offerings for the whole people on the appointed feasts
🎯 Spiritual and political leaders must be examples in worship and spiritual responsibility.
📌 4. Feasts and Atonement (verses 18–25)
➡️ The LORD establishes an annual ritual for the cleansing of the house of God (1 Nisan & 7 days later)
➡️ The Feast of Passover and the Feast of Booths are appointed, each lasting 7 days
➡️ On those days, burnt offerings and peace offerings must be presented each day
🎯 Celebration and worship are not routine, but a means of preserving the holiness of the community of God’s people.
📖 Main Teaching
- Land, worship, and power must be used to glorify the Lord, not enrich oneself
- The Lord requires justice in leadership, not only religious ritual
- True worship includes social and spiritual responsibility
- A leader who fears God will be a blessing to the people
