Chaos can come in many forms. It can be from a shaky economic situation, broken relationships, a life plan that has completely failed, or feelings in the heart that keep swirling. Amidst all that, it is very easy for us to feel lost. But the Bible teaches that faith is not just about surviving chaos, but also about opening a way through it.
Faith is not merely optimism or empty hope. Faith is the assurance of a God who continues to work, even when we do not see the results. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” In the midst of chaos, faith holds on to God’s promises more tightly than our feelings.
Imagine when the Israelites stood at the edge of the Red Sea. Before them was the vast sea, behind them the Egyptian army ready to destroy them. Humanly speaking, there was no way out. But Moses said, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14). And when Moses raised his staff, the sea parted. Not because of logic, but because of faith.
Faith teaches us to keep stepping forward even without certainty. Like Abraham who was asked by God to leave his country without knowing where he was going (Genesis 12:1). He obeyed, not because he knew everything, but because he trusted the God who knows everything.
When life feels uncertain, faith does not just ask “why is this happening?”, but begins to say, “Lord, what do You want me to learn and do right now?” Faith does not wait for everything to be calm before believing. Faith actually works strongest when everything seems chaotic.
Jesus Himself demonstrated this. In the middle of a storm shaking the boat, the disciples panicked. But Jesus was sleeping. Why? Because His faith was not dependent on the situation, but on His authority over that situation (Mark 4:39-40). When He rose and said, “Quiet! Be still!” the storm obeyed.
Maybe today the storm has not stopped. But do not wait for everything to be resolved before believing. Believe now. Because in the midst of chaos, God never remains silent. Your faith is the key that opens the way, even when logic says it is impossible.
