This question cannot be answered quickly or carelessly. Many Christians ask in their hearts, “Do I truly love God, or am I just following tradition?” Is my love for God real, or just a passing emotion? Fortunately, the Bible gives us clear signs to recognize whether our love for God is genuine.
1. Genuine Love Is Proven Through Obedience
Jesus said very firmly in John 14:15, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” This does not mean we must be perfect in obedience, but a heart that truly loves God will always long to obey, even in small matters.
Loving God is not just about warm feelings during worship, but about a heart willing to submit even when it is uncomfortable.

5. Love for God Brings Peace, Not Fear
True love drives out fear (1 John 4:18). If you love God not because you fear punishment, but because you know He first loved you (1 John 4:19), then that love comes from a healthy relationship.
