Awake, awake!
Put on your strength as clothing, O Zion!
Put on your garments of splendor,
O holy city, Jerusalem!
For no uncircumcised or unclean person
shall enter you again.

Shake the dust from yourself, arise,
O captive Jerusalem!
Loose the bonds from your neck,
O captive daughter of Zion!

For thus says the LORD:
You were sold for nothing, and you shall be redeemed without money.

For thus says the Lord GOD:
At first my people went down to Egypt to live there as foreigners, and Assyria oppressed them without cause.

But now, what do I have here? says the LORD.
My people have been taken away for nothing.
Those who rule over them boast, says the LORD,
and my name is continually blasphemed all day long.

Therefore my people shall know my name,
and in that day they shall understand that I am he who speaks; yes, I am!

How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of the messenger who brings good news,
who proclaims peace,
who brings good tidings,
who proclaims salvation,
and says to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”

Listen, the voice of your watchmen:
they lift up their voices together in joy.
For with their own eyes they see
how the LORD returns to Zion.

Break forth, sing together for joy,
you ruins of Jerusalem!
For the LORD has comforted his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem.

The LORD has bared
his holy arm
before the eyes of all the nations;
and all the ends of the earth shall see
the salvation of our God.
11
Depart, depart!
Go out from there!
Do not touch anything unclean!
Go out from the midst of it; purify yourselves,
you who carry the vessels of the LORD.
12
For you shall not go out in haste,
and you shall not flee in panic;
for the LORD will go before you,
and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
13
Behold, my servant shall prosper;
he shall be exalted, lifted up, and highly honored.
14
Just as many were appalled at him —
his appearance was so marred, beyond that of a man,
and his form beyond that of the sons of men —
15
so shall he startle many nations;
kings shall shut their mouths because of him;
for what had not been told them they shall see,
and what they had not heard they shall understand.

Isaiah 52 is a call to Jerusalem (Zion) to rise from the dust of shame. The Lord declares that redemption has come; his people will be freed not by gold or money, but by the Lord’s own work. In the closing section, the chapter begins to introduce the Lord’s Servant who will be exalted after humiliation, forming a direct bridge to Isaiah 53, the strong prophecy about the suffering Jesus.
📌 1. Arise, O Zion! (verses 1–2)
“Arise, put on your strength, O Zion!”
- Jerusalem is called to shake off the dust, and loose the bonds
- This call shows that the time of suffering has ended
- The chosen nation must live according to its identity — holy, not defiled
🎯 The Lord does not only save, but restores the dignity of His people.
📌 2. The Lord Will Deliver His People (verses 3–6)
“You were sold for nothing, and you shall be redeemed without money.”
- The Lord explains that His people are not bought or sold like goods
- They were shamed and enslaved by the nations, but the Lord knows
- Now, the Lord will make known His name and His power
🎯 Redemption is not the result of an earthly transaction, but a work of divine love and power.

“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news…”
- The picture of the evangelist: bringing news of peace, salvation, and that the Lord is King!
- Zion and Jerusalem are told to rejoice because the Lord has comforted His people
- All nations will see the salvation of God
🎯 The gospel is good news — not only for one nation, but for the whole world.
📌 4. Go Out, But Remain Holy (verses 11–12)
“Depart from there… do not touch what is unclean…”
- A call for the people to leave Babylon, but in a way that is clean and holy
- The Lord will lead them Himself, not in haste, because He is a protector before them and behind them
🎯 The Lord does not only bring His people out of a place of sin — He shapes the way they walk in holiness.
📌 5. The Servant of the Lord Will Be Glorified (verses 13–15)
“Behold, my servant shall prosper; he shall be exalted and lifted up, and shall be very high.”
- This servant experiences very deep humiliation, His face is marred beyond recognition
- But He will astonish many nations and make kings silent
- This is the direct introduction to Isaiah 53, the prophecy of the Messiah’s suffering

- The Lord restores His people, and they must rise with strength and holiness.

➡️ Just as in Isaiah 52:11 — a holy life after being delivered from the world.
“He humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death… therefore God highly exalted him.”
