My brothers and sisters, as believers in Jesus Christ, our glorious Lord, do not practice your faith with partiality.

For if a man comes into your assembly wearing a gold ring and fine clothing, and a poor man also comes in wearing shabby clothes,

and you pay special attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, “Please, sir, sit here in a good place,” while to the poor man you say, “Stand there,” or, “Sit on the floor here by my footstool,”

have you not made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

Listen, my beloved brothers and sisters! Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that He promised to those who love Him?

But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who oppress you and drag you into court?

Are they not the ones who blaspheme the noble Name by which you are called?

However, if you fulfill the royal law written in Scripture: “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well.

But if you show partiality, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.

For whoever keeps the whole law, yet fails in one point, has become guilty of all of it.

For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” So if you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.

So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead in itself.
