After the Sabbath had passed, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices to go to the tomb and anoint Jesus.

And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb.

They said to one another, “Who will roll the stone away for us from the entrance of the tomb?”

But when they looked closely, they saw that the stone, which was very large indeed, had already been rolled away.

Then they entered the tomb and saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. And they were greatly astonished,

but the young man said to them, “Do not be afraid! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen. He is not here. See! This is the place where they laid Him.

But now go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He told you.'”

Then they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and amazement had seized them. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.

Briefly they delivered all that message to Peter and his companions. After that Jesus Himself, through the disciples, proclaimed from East to West the holy and imperishable message of eternal salvation.

After Jesus had risen early on the first day of the week, He first appeared to Mary Magdalene, from whom Jesus had cast out seven demons.

Then she went and told those who had always accompanied Jesus, who at that time were mourning and weeping.

But when they heard that Jesus was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.

After this He appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country.

Then they returned and told the others, but they did not believe them either.

Finally He appeared to the eleven as they were eating, and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.

Then He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

These signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues,

they will take up serpents, and even if they drink deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and the person will recover.”

After the Lord Jesus had spoken thus to them, He was taken up into heaven, and sat at the right hand of God.

And they went out and preached the gospel everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word by the signs that accompanied it.
