Then a reed was given to me, like a measuring rod, with these words: “Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship in it.

But exclude the outer court of the temple; do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations, and they will trample the holy city for forty-two months.

And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy clothed in sackcloth for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the Lord of all the earth.

And if anyone wants to harm them, fire comes out of their mouth and consumes their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, that person must die in that way.

They have authority to shut the sky, so that no rain falls during the days of their prophesying; and they have authority over the waters to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every kind of plague, whenever they desire.

And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that rises from the abyss will make war against them and overcome them and kill them.

And their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.

And people from every nation and tribe and language and people will look at their bodies for three and a half days, and they will not allow their bodies to be laid in a tomb.

And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and be glad, and they will celebrate and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth.

And after the three and a half days, the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on all who saw them.

And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here!” Then they went up into heaven in a cloud, while their enemies watched them.

At that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

The second woe has passed; behold, the third woe is coming soon.

Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and loud voices were heard in heaven, saying:

“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Anointed, and He will reign forever and ever.”

And the twenty-four elders, who sat before God on their thrones, fell down and worshiped God,

“We give thanks to You, O Lord God, the Almighty, who is and who was,
because You have taken up Your great power
and have begun to reign as king

and the nations were enraged,
but Your wrath has come, and the time has come for the dead to be judged and to give reward to Your servants, the prophets and the saints,
and to those who fear Your name,
to the small and to the great,
and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”

Then the temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of His covenant was seen within His temple, and there were flashes of lightning, rumblings of thunder, an earthquake, and a great hailstorm.
