The Bible does not specifically mention “social media,” but the principles regarding the use of words and influence are clearly addressed. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.”
In today’s context, what we type on social media is the same as what we say in the real world.
Social media is not inherently evil or holy by itself, but rather a tool. What makes it bring blessing or harm is how we use it.
Biblical Principles in Using Social Media

Ephesians 4:25 advises, “Therefore, putting away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.” Do not share fake news just because it looks interesting. - Use it to build up, not to tear down.
Ephesians 4:29 reminds us, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up…” Likewise, our posts should inspire, not spread hatred. - Guard your heart against pride.
It is very easy to use social media to seek recognition. But Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:1 not to do good deeds just to be seen by others. - Make it a means of testimony.

- Negative content that erodes faith. We need to be careful not to let social media control our thinking more than the Word of God.
- Comparing ourselves to others. Galatians 6:4 reminds us, “Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else.”
