Have you ever walked in the forest, or watched a nature documentary video, then asked yourself: “These animals have no owner, no one takes care of them like we take care of pets… but why do they still live?”
No one feeds them directly, no one puts them in a cage when it rains, not even anyone takes them to the doctor when they are sick. But in fact, they still live, reproduce, and some even live healthier than pets.
So, who actually controls everything?
1. Instinct: Divine Navigation System
Scientifically, we can say: wild animals rely on instinct. They know where to go when hungry, know the time to migrate, know how to hunt, even know how to protect themselves. But let’s be honest: who gave them that instinct?
Jesus once said:
“Look at the birds of the air, that neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26)
It is God who implanted that instinct in them, and it is also God who arranges their environment in such a way that food is available at the right time.
2. Ecosystem: The Dining Table Designed by God
In the wild, there is no supermarket. But there is something far more complex: the ecosystem. The food chain operates with extraordinary precision. Predators keep prey populations balanced. Plants grow at the right time to become food for herbivores. Even carcasses become food for nature’s scavengers like vultures and insects.
All of this is not a random system, but God’s design.
Psalm 104:24-28 beautifully describes this:
“How many are Your works, O LORD, in wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your creatures. […] All look to You, to give them their food in due season. When You give it to them, they gather it up; when You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good things.”
3. They Don’t Farm, Yet They Are Full
Animals do not plant, do not till the soil, do not have refrigerators. Yet they can still eat. Meanwhile, we humans need a long system: agriculture, distribution, money, stores, kitchens. Aren’t animals more “primitive”? But in fact, they live in order without having to think as complicatedly as humans.
God not only created living creatures, but also provides for the needs of every creature. This is not just about nature, but about the character of God who is a caretaker and full of love.
4. If God Cares for the Sparrows, How Much More You
Sparrows may seem insignificant. But Jesus Himself mentioned them in His teaching:
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s will.” (Matthew 10:29)
If God knows and cares about the fate of a small bird, how much more you who are created in His image and likeness?
Conclusion: Nature Is an Open Bible
Every time you see wild animals living without an owner, remember that they are not truly alone. They are cared for by the same Hand that created the heavens and the earth.
God is the Great Shepherd, not only for humans but for all creation. Even before humans knew how to care for animals, God had already cared for everything in an unseen yet real way.
