Jesus is the Center of the Entire Biblical Story
If the Bible is a grand story about God’s relationship with humanity, then Jesus Christ is its main character. From beginning to end, the Bible points to Him. In the Old Testament, Jesus is prophesied as the coming Messiah (Isaiah 9:6), and in the New Testament, He appears as the fulfillment of that promise (Matthew 1:21-23). Even after His ascension, the book of Revelation reveals that Jesus will return as the King of kings (Revelation 19:11-16). This means that no part of the Bible is separate from the shadow of Jesus’ work and person.
Jesus Opens the Way to God
One of the main reasons why Jesus is so important is because through Him the way to the Father is reopened. In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” This is not merely a theological statement, but a reality that salvation cannot be achieved by human effort alone. Without Jesus, there is no forgiveness of sins and no restoration of relationship with God.
His Sacrifice is the Center of Salvation
Jesus did not come only as a teacher or prophet, but as the Savior. His death on the cross is the climax of God’s redemption plan for humanity (1 Peter 2:24). The cross is not a symbol of defeat, but rather a victory over sin and death. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” This affirms that God’s love is most clearly manifested through Jesus’ sacrifice.
Jesus is the Living Lord
What distinguishes Jesus from other religious figures is His resurrection. He did not only die, but rose on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). This resurrection demonstrates His power over death, proving that He truly is the Son of God (Romans 1:4). Therefore, the Christian faith is not based merely on moral teachings, but on the living person of Jesus who continues to work within His people.
Jesus Gives True Meaning to Life
Many people seek the meaning of life, peace, and truth in various ways. But Jesus promises all of these to those who believe in Him. In John 10:10, He said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Life in Christ is a complete life, not only in this world but also in eternity.
