Many people want to receive God’s blessings, be used in a great ministry, or see His promises fulfilled in their lives. Yet the question we rarely reflect on is: Have we become a person God can trust?
In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus tells the parable of the talents. Two faithful servants multiplied the talents they were given, while one servant simply buried his. To the faithful servants, their master said, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will put you in charge of many things” (Matthew 25:21). God gives greater responsibility to those who prove their faithfulness in small things.
Being trustworthy before God means we are faithful not only when people are watching, but also when no one is paying attention. It means guarding our integrity, holding firmly to His Word, and doing what is right even when it is difficult. Joseph in Egypt is a real example. He resisted the temptation of Potiphar’s wife (Genesis 39:9) even though he knew it could cost him comfort and freedom. Yet his integrity caused God to entrust him with a great plan to save many people through his life.
Often, we wait for God to open a big door, but ignore faithfulness in the small responsibilities right in front of us. If we are not faithful with little, how can God trust us with much? (Luke 16:10).
Becoming a person God can trust is not about great talent, but about a heart that is obedient and faithful. God is looking for people He can rely on to carry out His plans on earth, no matter how small their role may seem.
Lord, shape my heart into a faithful person You can trust. Teach me to guard my integrity in small things, so that You may entrust me with greater things in my life.
