One of the most precious character qualities in God’s eyes is when a person can be trusted. Our world is full of broken promises, unkept words, and trust that is often betrayed. Yet the Bible shows that God looks for faithful and trustworthy people to entrust with great things.
Jesus said, “Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much” (Luke 16:10). This means that the measure of our faithfulness is not when we are given great responsibility, but how we handle the small things that sometimes seem insignificant. If we are not honest in small matters, how can God entrust great things into our hands?
We can learn from Daniel. When he became a high official in Babylon, his enemies tried to find a way to bring him down. Yet the Bible records, “They could find no ground for complaint or any fault, because he was faithful, and no error or fault was found in him” (Daniel 6:5). Daniel could be trusted, not only by the king, but also by God.
A trustworthy person is someone whose words and actions are consistent. He does not merely speak kindly, but proves it through his deeds. He does not seek personal gain at the expense of others. Even when no one is watching, he still chooses honesty. That is integrity.
Sometimes becoming a trustworthy person is not easy. The world often downplays the value of honesty. But Christians are called to be different. Jesus taught, “Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil” (Matthew 5:37). In other words, our lives must be transparent and dependable, not full of manipulation.
Becoming a trustworthy person is not only about reputation, but also about calling. God entrusts the gospel, talents, and His blessings to faithful people. The more trustworthy we are, the greater the responsibility God will entrust to us.
Today let us ask: Am I a person who can be trusted by my family, friends, coworkers, and even by God Himself? If there is still any part of life that is not honest or not faithful, ask the Holy Spirit to change us.
Yes, Father, shape me into a person You can trust. Teach me to be faithful in small things, honest in every word, and steadfast in integrity. May my life become a trustworthy testimony, so that Your name is glorified through every action I take. Amen.
