Can We Know God Through Science?

When Microscopes and Telescopes Point to the Sky

Science is often considered something that conflicts with faith. But is it really true that the two cannot go hand in hand? Or rather, through science, can we become more amazed and come to know who God is?

Imagine the human heartbeat that keeps beating without our command. Or the DNA structure that is complex yet precise. Even galaxies spinning in space, yet not colliding with each other. All of this gives us an important question: who designed all of this?

Science Unveils Wonders, Not Replaces God

Science indeed explains how something happens, but faith answers why something exists. When physics explains the force of gravity, faith asks: who created the law of gravity? When biology describes the process of photosynthesis, faith is grateful because God created plants that provide oxygen.

The Apostle Paul once said, โ€œFor since the creation of the world Godโ€™s invisible qualitiesโ€”his eternal power and divine natureโ€”have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been madeโ€ (Romans 1:20). This means that creation studied through science can be a way to know the Creator.

From Genetic Codes to Natural Laws: Godโ€™s Fingerprints Are Seen Everywhere

If you have ever studied the structure of the atom, you know how small and complex the particles that make up the universe are. If you have ever read about the Laws of Thermodynamics, you know that everything tends toward disorder, yet there is still extraordinary order in this universe.

This is not a coincidence. This is Godโ€™s fingerprint.

Science has never truly been able to create life from nothing. Technology can make robots, but it cannot create a soul. That is why many great scientists in history such as Isaac Newton, Johannes Kepler, and Blaise Pascal actually grew more believing in God as they delved deeper into science.

Knowing God Through Awe and Humility

The more we study science, the more we realize that this universe is too complex to be the result of chance. It is precisely from this sense of awe that we are invited to be more humble and realize that there is an Almighty Person behind all this order and wonder.

Psalm 19:2 says, โ€œThe heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.โ€ So it is no wonder that every scientific study can become a form of worship if we approach it with a heart seeking God, not just technical answers.

Science is not the enemy of faith. Science is a window to see how magnificent the Creator is.
