We always give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,

because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints,

because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this hope you heard before in the word of truth, the gospel,

which has come to you. It is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world, just as it has among you from the day you heard it and truly came to know the grace of God.

You learned this from Epaphras, our beloved fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf.

He has also made known to us your love in the Spirit.

For this reason, since the day we heard it, we have not ceased praying for you. We ask that you may be filled with all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so as to know the Lord’s will fully,

that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, pleasing to Him in every way, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the true knowledge of God,

being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience,

and giving thanks with joy to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of His beloved Son;

in Him we have our redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn, supreme over all creation,

for in Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions, whether rulers or authorities; all things were created through Him and for Him.

He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from among the dead, so that He might have first place in everything.

For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,

Also you, who once lived far from God and were hostile to Him in heart and mind, as was shown by your evil deeds,

Therefore you must continue in the faith, steadfast and firm, and not be moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

Now I rejoice that I may suffer for your sake, and in my flesh I complete what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for His body, that is, the church.

I have become a servant of that church according to the task entrusted to me by God, to make His word fully known to you,

the mystery hidden from ages and from generations, but now revealed to His saints.

To them God chose to make known how rich and glorious this mystery is among the nations: Christ is in your midst, Christ who is the hope of glory!

He is the one whom we proclaim, warning every person and teaching every person in all wisdom, to present every person mature in Christ.
