1
And you, son of man, prophesy against Gog and say: Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of the land of Meshech and Tubal.
2
I will turn you about and lead you on, and I will bring you up from the far north and bring you to the mountains of Israel.
3
I will strike your left hand, so that your bow falls from it, and I will make your arrows fall from your right hand.
4
On the mountains of Israel you shall fall, you and all your troops and the peoples who are with you; and I will give you to birds of prey of every kind and to the beasts of the field as food.
5
You shall fall in the open field, for I have spoken it, declares the Lord GOD.
6
I will send fire upon Magog and upon those who dwell securely in the coastlands, and they shall know that I am the LORD.
7
And I will make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel, and I will no longer let my holy name be profaned, so that the nations shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
8
Surely it is coming, and it will happen, declares the day of which I have spoken.
9
Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out and make fires and burn the weapons of Gog, both small and large shields, bows and arrows, clubs and spears; and they will burn them for seven years.
10
They will not take wood from the forest or cut firewood from the woods, for they will make their fires with those weapons. They will plunder those who plundered them and loot those who looted them, declares the Lord GOD.
11
On that day I will give Gog a place there in Israel for a burial site, the Valley of the Travelers, east of the sea; and it will block the way of those who pass through. There Gog and all his multitude will be buried, and it will be called the Valley of Gog’s Multitude.
12
The house of Israel will bury them for seven months, in order to cleanse the land.
13
All the people of the land will help bury them, and it will bring them renown on the day I show my glory, declares the Lord GOD.
14
Men will be set apart to continually pass through the land and bury those still lying on the ground, in order to cleanse it. After the seven months have passed, they will search through the land.
15
When they go through the land, and one of them sees a human bone, he shall set up a marker beside it until the gravediggers bury it in the Valley of Gog’s Multitude.
16
— And there is also the name of the city Hamonah —. Thus they shall cleanse the land.
17
And you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD: Speak to every kind of bird and to every beast of the field: Gather together and come; assemble from every side to the sacrifice feast that I am preparing for you, a great sacrifice feast on the mountains of Israel; you shall eat flesh and drink blood.
18
You shall eat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of the rulers of the earth; they are all like rams, lambs, goats, and bulls, fattened livestock from Bashan.
19
You shall eat fat until you are full and drink blood until you are drunk at the sacrifice feast that I am preparing for you.
20
At my feast you shall be filled with horses and riders, mighty men and all men of war, declares the Lord GOD.
21
I will display the glory of my power among the nations, and all of them shall see the judgment that I will bring and the hand that I will lay upon them.
22
And the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD, their God, from that day onward.
23
And the nations shall know that because of their guilt the house of Israel had to go into exile, and because they were unfaithful to me, I hid my face from them. And I gave them into the hand of their adversaries, and they all fell by the sword.
24
According to their uncleanness and their transgressions I dealt with them, and I hid my face from them.
25
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Now I will restore the fortunes of Jacob and have compassion on the whole house of Israel, and my jealousy will arise for the sake of my holy name.
26
They shall forget their shame and all their unfaithfulness, which they committed against me, when they dwell again in their land in safety, with no one to make them afraid,
27
when I have brought them back from among the nations and gathered them from the lands of their enemies, and when I show my holiness through them in the sight of many nations.
28
And they shall know that I am the LORD, their God, who caused them to go into exile among the nations and gathered them again into their own land; and I will leave none of them there.
29
I will no longer hide My face from them, when I pour out My Spirit upon the house of Israel, declares the Lord GOD.”
⚔️🔥💀 Summary of Ezekiel 39 – The Total Defeat of Gog and the Glory of the Lord
Ezekiel 39 continues the prophecy from chapter 38 concerning Gog and Magog, Israel’s great enemy at the end of the age. In this chapter, the Lord makes clear that Gog will be completely defeated by the hand of God Himself. This defeat will be a sign of the Lord’s glory and holiness before all nations. After this, the Lord declares a promise of full restoration for the people of Israel: they will know that the Lord is their God and will never be forsaken again.
