Many people only feel their faith is strong when their prayers are answered as they hoped. Yet, true faith stands firm even when the expected results are not yet visible. Such faith is not based on circumstances, but on the character of God, who is faithful.
The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego is a remarkable example. When faced with the threat of the fiery furnace, they said to the king, “If our God whom we serve is able to deliver us… He will deliver us… But if not, let it be known to you, O king… that we will not serve your gods” (Daniel 3:17-18). This statement shows a faith that does not depend on the outcome they wanted, but on obedience to God.
Such faith is born from a deep relationship with God. We trust Him not because He always gives us what we want, but because we know He always gives what is best, even when we do not yet understand why. Hebrews 11:1 teaches, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
The greatest challenge of faith is continuing to believe in the midst of prayers that have not yet been answered, sickness that has not yet been healed, or doors that have not yet opened. In that process, God is shaping our hearts to rely more on Him, not on circumstances.
If you are currently in a situation where the results are not yet visible, remember that God is working behind the scenes. No prayer is wasted, and no faith is overlooked.
Lord, teach me to trust You not because of my circumstances, but because You are faithful. Even though I have not yet seen the answer I hoped for, I want to remain faithful and lean on You. Shape my faith so that it does not depend on results, but only on You.
