In the social media era, it is so easy to be tempted to compare our lives with others. Seeing vacation photos, career success, or other peopleโs family happiness often makes us feel lacking or left behind. Yet, God never calls us to be copies of other people. He writes a unique story for each of His children, with different plots, timing, and purposes.
In John 21:21-22, when Peter asked about Johnโs fate, Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” Jesusโ answer clearly shows that we should focus on the calling God has given for our lives, not compare it with others.
Comparing our lives will only steal our peace. We can lose gratitude for what God has already done because we are too busy looking at other peopleโs achievements. Yet Psalm 139:16 reminds us that God has already written every day of our lives before one of them came to be. That means nothing in our journey is by chance.
Everyone has a different season of life. Some reach their dreams earlier, while others are just beginning them at a more mature age. God works according to His perfect timing. What matters most is that we faithfully keep walking on the path He has set.
If right now you feel left behind or your life does not seem as impressive as othersโ, remember: God does not measure our worth by worldly speed or achievement, but by our faithfulness to Him.
Lord, thank You because You write my life story with love. Help me to stop comparing myself with others and learn to be grateful for the journey You have given me. Teach me to walk faithfully in Your way, trusting that Your plan is the best for me.
