Maybe today feels like an ordinary day, but it could be that today God wants to teach an important lesson: a healthy spiritual life does not always grow at high speed. In the midst of this instant world, we often feel like failures just because our growth feels slow. But do you know? God is never in a hurry.
Often we demand quick results: prayers answered immediately, character changed instantly, faith strengthened right away. But the Bible is actually full of stories of people who were shaped through a long process.
God Likes to Work Through Processes
Just look at Moses. He was raised in the Egyptian palace with great potential, but was only used by God after 40 years in the wilderness (Exodus 3:1-12). David was anointed king when young, but had to wait many years and go through many escapes before sitting on the throne (1 Samuel 16:13, 2 Samuel 5:4).
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
This verse is not only about God’s perfect timing, but also teaches that every stage of life, including those that feel slow, is part of the beauty of His plan.
The Process Grows Roots, Not Just Fruit
Like a tree, God does not want us to just bear fruit quickly but be fragile. He wants us to have strong roots. Those roots grow underground, unseen, and take time. But without roots, the tree will not survive.
Isaiah 37:31 says:
“The remnant that is left of the house of Judah will again take root downward and bear fruit upward.”
God works first within, before producing something outside. If today you feel your faith is growing slowly, do not despair. God may be strengthening your roots.
A Slow Process Is Not the Same as Failure
In Mark 4:26-29, Jesus tells a parable about a seed that grows slowly. He says:
“The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed on the ground… and the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.”
Spiritual growth is not always visible immediately. But that does not mean it is not happening. Even when you don’t feel any change, God is still working in your heart.
Conclusion: Enjoy Every Stage, Because God Is Shaping You
Today, don’t rush to feel like a failure just because you haven’t reached your goal. Remember, God did not create man in a day. He will also not be hasty in shaping you into a person like Christ.
Instead of rushing, learn to enjoy every step with God. Because it is precisely in the slow process that our character is formed, our faith is tested, and our knowledge of Him is deepened.
God is not slow as we think. He is only making sure the foundation of our life is strong enough to support the great blessings to come.
“The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.” (Lamentations 3:25-26)
