Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in their hearts, yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
We live in an age where everything is measured by a timeline. There are target ages for getting married, owning a home, reaching a certain career milestone, and even personal achievements displayed on social media. When others seem “faster” or “more successful,” we begin to feel left behind. Yet human timing is not God’s timing.
Joseph did not see his dream fulfilled until after years of suffering. Abraham waited decades before having Isaac. Moses was not called until he was eighty. God does not work according to human timelines, because He knows best what is right and when it is right.
The problem is, we often feel restless. We want our prayers answered immediately, our problems solved quickly, and God’s promises fulfilled without a long wait. Yet waiting is not wasted. In seasons of waiting, God is working to shape our hearts, train our patience, and prepare us to receive His blessings. The time that seems “wasted” in our eyes is often the very time God uses to prepare our future.
Imagine if every prayer of ours were answered right away. We might become spoiled, never learn to trust, and easily be shaken when difficulties come. God knows that true faith grows not from instant results, but from the process of walking with Him.
Maybe right now you feel behind compared to your peers. But remember: God is never late, and He is never off time. The timeline of your life is not determined by other people’s expectations, but by the loving hand of God.
Do not let the world’s timeline steal your peace. Live in trust that what God has begun, He will surely complete in His time. When the moment comes, you will see that not a single second of waiting was wasted, because God is always working behind the scenes.
Father, I often feel restless because I think my time is running out and I am falling behind others. Teach me to trust that You know the best time for me. Help me learn to be patient, faithful, and to keep hoping only in You, because Your timing is always perfect. Amen.
