In this world full of uncertainty, we are often disappointed by human promises. From small promises like “I’ll call later” to big promises like “I will be faithful,” all can be broken so easily. So it is no surprise that when we read God’s promises in the Bible, we sometimes hesitate. We ask in our hearts, “Will God really keep all His promises?”
Yet, the Bible is full of evidence that God never fails. In Joshua 21:45 it says, “Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.” This is not merely a poetic sentence, but the reality of His people’s experience.
God is faithful, not forgetful. Even when time feels slow to us, He still fulfills His plan perfectly. We only need to learn to distinguish between not yet and not at all. Often God’s promise has indeed not yet been fulfilled, but that does not mean He will not keep it.
Abraham had to wait for years to see Isaac born (Genesis 21:1-2), but that promise was fulfilled right when God willed it. Joseph had to go through rejection, being sold as a slave, and prison before his dream was fulfilled as ruler of Egypt (Genesis 41:41-43). But see, not one of God’s promises failed.
We are the same. God’s promises of comfort, restoration, help, and eternal life are not comforting fairy tales. They are assurances from the One who never lies (Numbers 23:19). If He has promised to be with you (Isaiah 41:10), then He truly is with you, even when you do not feel it.
The problem is not with God’s promise, but with the way we wait. Are we patient? Do we keep believing even though we have not yet seen the result? In 2 Peter 3:9 it says, “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness.” God is patient because He is working on something greater than we can imagine.
So today, if you are in a season of waiting, do not give up. Hold on to His promise. Draw near to His Word. God is not like human who can forget or break their word. He is the One we can trust completely. And when the time comes, you will see for yourself that God never fails.
