Lamps begin to be turned off, the Christmas tree is taken down, and the gifts have been opened. According to the calendar, Christmas has indeed passed. But one important thing we must realize is this: God’s love does not end when December 25th is over.
Many people experience the Christmas euphoria only briefly. Hearts grow warm because of the spiritual songs, joyful worship, and peaceful atmosphere. But once the day changes and routine returns, many feel as if all of that disappears. The question is: does God’s love only apply during the Christmas season?
The Bible gives a clear answer: no. In Jeremiah 31:3 it is written, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.” God’s love is not seasonal, not dependent on dates, and does not fade along with the decorations put away.
Christmas is indeed a special moment that reminds us of Jesus’ birth. But more than just a celebration, Christmas is the beginning of a journey of love that continues on. Jesus does not stop being Immanuel (God with us) just because the holiday is over. He continues to be with us in our work, life’s challenges, and even on ordinary days.
Jesus did not come just to be remembered, but to be lived out. This means the love we receive at Christmas should fuel our lives every day. It is this love that enables us to forgive when hurt, give selflessly, and keep hoping even when circumstances have not changed.
Romans 8:38-39 clearly states that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Not dates or moods, but also suffering, fear, sin, or failure cannot distance us from that love.
Christmas has passed, but His love has not. So as the world begins to get busy and cold again, let us continue to carry the light of Christ’s love in our hearts. Continue to be kind, forgiving, and full of love as we were at Christmas. Because truly, Christmas is not about one day a year, but a life that continually glorifies Christ every day.
