The word that was revealed to Isaiah son of Amoz concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

It shall come to pass in the latter days:
the mountain of the house of the LORD
shall be established as the highest of the mountains
and exalted above the hills;
and all nations shall stream to it,
3
and many peoples shall go and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that He may teach us His ways,
and that we may walk in His paths;
for out of Zion shall go forth instruction,
and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”

He shall judge between the nations
and shall decide for many peoples;
and they shall beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks;
ation shall not lift up sword against nation,
and they shall learn war no more.

O house of Jacob,
come, let us walk
in the light of the LORD!
6
Surely You have forsaken Your people,
the house of Jacob,
because they are filled with divination from the East
and with sorcery like the Philistines,
and they abound in foreigners.
7
Their land is filled with silver and gold,
and there is no end to their treasures;
their land is filled with horses,
and there is no end to their chariots.
8
Their land is filled with idols;
they bow down to the work of their own hands,
to what their own fingers have made.
9
So mankind is brought low,
and each man is humbled—
do not forgive them!
10
Enter among the rocks,
and hide in the dust,
from the terror of the LORD
and from the splendor of His majesty!
11
The proud look of man shall be brought low,
and the loftiness of men shall be humbled;
and the LORD alone shall be exalted
in that day.
12
For the LORD of hosts has a day appointed
against all that is proud and lofty,
and against all that is lifted up, that it may be brought low;
13
against all the cedars of Lebanon,
high and lifted up,
and against all the oaks of Bashan;
14
against all the high mountains
and against all the lofty hills;
15
against every high tower
and against every fortified wall;
16
against all the ships of Tarshish
and against all the beautiful vessels.
17
The pride of man shall be humbled,
and the loftiness of men shall be brought low;
the LORD alone shall be exalted
in that day.
18
And the idols
shall utterly pass away.
19
Then people shall enter the caves in the rocks
and the holes in the ground,
from the terror of the LORD
and from the splendor of His majesty,
when He rises to shake the earth.
20
On that day the idols of silver and the idols of gold,
which men have made for themselves to bow down to,
shall be cast away to the moles and to the bats,
21
and he shall go into the clefts of the rocks
and into the cracks of the cliffs,
before the terror of the LORD
and before the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises to make the earth tremble.
22
Do not put your trust in man,
for he is no more than a breath;
and of what account is he?
🌄⚖️🏔️ Summary of Isaiah 2 – Messianic Peace and a Warning against Human Pride
Isaiah 2 presents a strong contrast: on the one hand, a vision of a future filled with peace, when the nations come to the mountain of the LORD. Yet on the other hand, Isaiah declares that the LORD will bring low proud humanity and judge the world because of its arrogance. This chapter joins eschatological hope and a stern warning about judgment.
📌 1. The Vision of the Day of the LORD and True Peace (verses 1–4)
“In the last days, the mountain of the house of the LORD shall stand firm…”
- All nations will stream to the house of the LORD to receive his law
- The LORD will be judge among the nations, and they will beat swords into plowshares
🎯 This is a Messianic vision: a future of peace, without war, where God reigns directly.
📌 2. Warning: Do Not Follow the Ways of the Nations (verses 5–9)
“O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD!”
- The people of Israel have forsaken the LORD and followed eastern superstitions and foreign idols
- They are filled with wealth, armies, and idols made by their own hands
🎯 Even the chosen nation can go astray if they rely on worldly strength, not on the LORD.
📌 3. The LORD Will Bring Low the Exalted (verses 10–18)
“The proud man will be brought low… only the LORD will be exalted.”
- Isaiah reminds us of the dreadful day of the LORD — a day of judgment
- All that is high and proud will be brought low: mountains, towers, ships, and human arrogance
- All idols will be cast away and be of no use anymore
🎯 Pride is a great sin that will be exposed by the Lord. In the end, only the Lord will stand exalted.
📌 4. A Call to Leave Dependence on Man (verses 19–22)
“Do not put your hope in man, for he is no more than breath…”
- In the day of the Lord, people will flee into caves for fear of the glory of the Lord
- Dependence on man and worldly systems will collapse
🎯 Do not build your life on trust in human strength — only the Lord is worthy to be relied on.

🎯 Isaiah’s vision of a time of peace is fulfilled spiritually in the Kingdom of God through Christ, and one day fully when Jesus returns. The pride of the world will fall — only Christ will be exalted.
