Listen to Me in silence, O coastlands;
let the peoples renew their strength!
Let them draw near, then let them speak;
let us come together for judgment!

Who has stirred up one from the east,
one whom victory meets at every step,
who gives nations over before him
and brings down kings?
His sword makes them like dust,
and his bow like driven stubble.

He pursues them and passes on safely,
by a way his feet had never trod.

Who has done and accomplished this?
He who from the beginning calls forth generations,
I, the LORD, the first,
and with the last I am He.

The coastlands have seen it and are afraid;
the ends of the earth tremble;
they draw near and come.

Each helps the other
and says to his companion, “Be strong!”

The craftsman encourages the goldsmith,
and he who smooths with the hammer
encourages him who strikes the anvil;
he says of the soldering, “It is good,”
and he fastens it with nails so that it cannot be moved.

But you, Israel, My servant,
Jacob, whom I have chosen,
the offspring of Abraham, My friend;

you whom I took from the ends of the earth
and called from its farthest corners,
I said to you, “You are My servant;
I have chosen you and not cast you off”;
10
do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you;
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Behold, all who are enraged against you
shall be put to shame and disgraced;
those who contend with you
shall be as nothing and shall perish.
12
You shall seek those who strive with you,
but you shall not find them;
those who war against you
shall be as nothing and emptiness.
13
For I, the LORD your God,
hold your right hand;
it is I who say to you, “Do not fear,
I am the one who helps you.”
14
Do not fear, you worm Jacob,
you little Israel!
I am the one who helps you, declares the LORD;
your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.
15
Behold, I have made you a threshing sledge,
a new sharp one, with double edges;
you shall thresh the mountains and crush them,
and you shall make the hills like chaff.
16
You shall winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away,
and the storm shall scatter them.
But you shall rejoice in the LORD
and glory in the Holy One of Israel.

The afflicted and the poor
are seeking water, but there is none;
their tongue is parched with thirst;
but I, the LORD, will answer them;
as the God of Israel I will not forsake them.
18
I will make rivers flow on the bare heights,
and springs in the midst of the valleys;
I will make the wilderness a pool of water
and the dry land springs of water.
19
I will plant in the wilderness the cedar,
the acacia tree, the myrtle, and the olive tree;
I will set in the desert the cypress,
and the plane tree and the pine together,
20
so that all may see and know,
consider and understand,
that the hand of the LORD has done this,
and the Holy One of Israel has created it.

Present your case, says the LORD;
bring forward your arguments, says the King of Jacob.

Let them come forward and tell us
what is to happen!
Tell us the former things, what they mean,
so that we may consider them,
or declare to us the things to come,
so that we may know their outcome!
23
Declare the things that are to come afterward,
so that we may know that you are gods;
do something, whether good or evil,
that we may be dismayed and see it together!
24
Behold, you are nothing,
and your work is nothing;
he who chooses you is an abomination.
25
I have stirred up one from the north, and he has come;
from the rising of the sun I have called him by name.
As a potter treads clay,
so he will tread rulers down like mud.

Who declared it from the beginning, that we might know,
and beforehand, that we might say, “He is right”?
Indeed, there was no one who declared it,
no one who announced it,
no one who heard a word from you.

As the first, I declared it to Zion,
and I gave to Jerusalem a messenger of good news.

When I looked around, there was no one;
and among all these there was none who could give counsel,
or answer when I asked them.

Isaiah 41 is a declaration of God’s power over the nations and His promise to protect and help His people, Israel. The Lord calls the nations to come and recognize that He alone holds history in His hand. In the midst of fear and the world’s intimidation, God speaks gently yet with authority:
“Do not fear, for I am with you.”
This chapter is a guarantee of spiritual strength and a promise of divine defense for a people who are weak but rely on the Lord.
📌 1. The Lord Challenges the Nations (verses 1–7)
“Let the nations come forward and present their case!”
- The Lord calls the nations to appear and prove their strength
- He shows that He alone directs history, including the rise of a king from the east (possibly Cyrus)
🎯 The Lord is the Ruler of history — all worldly powers are only instruments in His hand.
📌 2. A Promise of Strength and Protection for Israel (verses 8–14)
“Do not fear, O worm Jacob…”
- The Lord calls Israel not because of their strength, but because of His love and His covenant
