So Job continued his discourse:

“As God lives, who has denied me justice, and by the Almighty, who has made my heart bitter,
3
as long as my breath is still in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils,
4
my lips will surely not speak falsehood, and my tongue will not utter deceit.
5
Far be it from me to justify you! Until I die, I will hold fast to my integrity.
6
I hold fast to my righteousness and will not let it go; my heart does not reproach me for any of my days.
7
May my enemy be like the wicked, and the one who rises against me like the unjust.
8
For what is the hope of the godless, when God cuts him off, when he demands his life?
9
Will God hear his cry when distress comes upon him?
10
Will he delight himself in the Almighty and call upon God at all times?
11
I will teach you about the hand of God; what the Almighty has planned I will not conceal.
12
Behold, you yourselves have seen it; why then do you think empty thoughts?
13
This is the portion of the wicked assigned by God, and the inheritance of the violent that they receive from the Almighty:
14
if his children increase, they are for the sword, and his descendants do not have enough to eat;
15
those who survive him will go down to the grave by plague, and their widows will not weep for them.
16
Though he heaps up silver like dust, and piles up clothing like clay,
17
even if he piles it up, the righteous will wear it, and the innocent will divide the silver.
18
He builds his house like a spider’s web, like a hut made by a watchman.
19
He lies down rich, but he will not do so again; when he opens his eyes, it is no more.
20
Terrors overtake him like a flood; at night a storm carries him off;
21
the east wind lifts him up, and he is gone; it sweeps him from his place.
22
Without mercy God hurls at him; he must quickly flee from His power.
23
People clap their hands at him, and hiss at him from his dwelling place.”
🛡️⚖️🔥 Summary of Job 27 – “I Will Still Hold Fast to My Righteousness”
Job 27 is part of Job’s final defense against the accusations of his friends. Here, he swears that he will not deny his integrity, even though God seems not to be defending him.
Though he acknowledges that the fate of the wicked is ultimately bad, he refuses to be accused as one of them. This chapter combines Job’s steadfast conscience with the confession of God’s certain justice, though delayed.
📌 1. Job Will Not Deny His Righteousness (verses 1–6)
➡️ Job swears:
“As long as my breath is still in me… my lips will not speak deceit.”
➡️ He refuses to call himself guilty just to please others
➡️ He still believes: his conscience does not reproach any of his days
