To You, O LORD, my rock, I cry; be not silent to me, lest, if You keep silence toward me, I become like those who go down into the pit.

Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry to You for help, and lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary.

Draw me not away with the wicked, or with workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.

Give them according to their deeds, and according to the evil of their doings; give them after the work of their hands; render to them what they deserve.

Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of His hands, He shall break them down and not build them up again.

Blessed be the LORD, because He has heard the voice of my supplications.

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will give thanks to Him.

The LORD is the strength of His people, and He is the saving refuge of His anointed.

Psalm 28 is David’s cry to the Lord, beginning with a plea that God would not be silent, and ending with praise for answered prayer. In this psalm, David very personally asks not to be counted with the wicked, and he seeks justice. Then, when he senses that the Lord has heard his prayer, his heart overflows with thanksgiving and confidence that the Lord is his strength and shield.
