A Psalm of Asaph.
The Mighty One, the LORD God, speaks and calls the earth, from the rising of the sun to its setting.

Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.
3
Our God comes and does not keep silence; before Him fire devours, and around Him a mighty storm blows.
4
He calls to the heavens above, and to the earth, to judge His people:

“Bring near to Me My faithful ones, who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice!”

The heavens declare His righteousness, for God Himself is Judge. Selah
7
“Hear, O My people, and I will speak; O Israel, I will testify against you: I am God, your God!
8
Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you; are your burnt offerings not continually before Me?
9
I will take no bull from your house, nor male goats from your folds,
10
for every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.
11
I know all the birds of the air, and whatever moves in the field is under My power.
12
If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is Mine, and all that is in it.
13
Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
14
Offer thanksgiving as a sacrifice to God, and pay your vows to the Most High!
15
Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” Selah
16
But to the wicked God says: “What right have you to recite My statutes, and to speak of My covenant with your mouth,
17
while you hate discipline and cast My words behind you?
18
If you see a thief, you are in league with him, and you keep company with adulterers.
19
You give your mouth free rein for evil, and your tongue frames deceit.
20
You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’s son.
21
These things you have done, and I kept silent; you thought that I was one like yourself. I will rebuke you and set the matter before you.
22
Consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be none to deliver.
23
Whoever offers thanksgiving as a sacrifice honors Me; to him who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God.”
🕊️🙏📖 Summary of Psalm 50 – “True Worship before God”
Psalm 50 is a psalm of divine judgment, written by Asaph. In this psalm, God appears as Judge, not to punish other nations, but to correct His own people. The Lord rejects worship that is only ritual, and requires a thankful heart, a righteous life, and honesty.
This is a divine rebuke that remains very relevant today — that true worship is more important than offerings alone.
📌 1. God Comes as Judge (verses 1–6)
➡️ “The Almighty, the Lord God, speaks and calls the earth…”
➡️ The Lord appears from Zion in His glory and calls heaven and earth to be witnesses.
➡️ He calls His people to be judged.
🎯 God is not only a Helper, but also a just and holy Judge.
📌 2. Worship Without Heart Is Rebuked (verses 7–15)
➡️ The Lord says: “It is not because of your sacrifices that I rebuke you…”
➡️ The Lord does not need bulls or goats — because everything belongs to Him.
➡️ What God desires is: thanksgiving and covenant faithfulness.
➡️ “Call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you.”
🎯 True worship is a thankful heart and a life of obedience.
📌 3. Rebuke for the Wicked (verses 16–21)
➡️ The Lord condemns those who speak His word but live wickedly.
➡️ They hate correction, keep company with thieves, commit adultery, lie, and slander.
➡️ Because the Lord is silent, they think there are no consequences — yet the Lord knows everything.
🎯 Speaking spiritually without living spiritually is hypocrisy before the Lord.
📌 4. Closing and the Lord’s Promise (verses 22–23)
➡️ The Lord warns not to forget Him.
➡️ “Whoever offers thanksgiving honors Me.”
➡️ “Whoever walks uprightly will see the salvation of God.”
🎯 The way to salvation is through thanksgiving, honesty, and repentance.
