(53-2) The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God!”
They are corrupt and abominable in their iniquity; there is none who does good.

(53-3) God looks down from heaven upon the children of men,
to see whether there are any who understand, who seek after God.

(53-4) They have all turned aside; they have together become corrupt;
there is none who does good, no, not one.

(53-5) Have the workers of evil no knowledge,
who eat up my people as they eat bread,
and do not call upon God?

(53-6) There they were seized with great terror, where no terror was;
for God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you;
they are put to shame, because God has rejected them.

(53-7) Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When God restores the fortunes of his people,
Jacob shall rejoice, Israel shall be glad.
🕊️🙏📖 Summary of Psalm 53 – “The Folly of Those Who Deny God”
Psalm 53 is almost identical to Psalm 14, though it is set in a context that uses a different divine name (“Elohim” rather than “YHWH”). Its main message is a rebuke of the foolishness of those who live without God, where spiritual folly leads to moral and social ruin.
This psalm portrays a world broken by rebellion against God, yet it closes with hope for salvation from Zion.
📌 1. The Fool Denies God (verse 1)
➡️ “The fool has said in his heart: ‘There is no God.’”
➡️ The result is corruption, abomination, and no one doing good.
🎯 Denial of the Lord destroys morality and conscience.
📌 2. The Lord Looks Down on the Earth (verses 2–3)
➡️ God looks down to seek the wise, those who seek Him — but there are none.
➡️ All have gone astray; there is none righteous, not even one.
🎯 This shows the universality of sin — all humanity has failed apart from God’s grace.
📌 3. The Wicked Oppress God’s People (verses 4–5)
➡️ They “eat up my people as they eat bread,” without fear of God.
➡️ But the Lord will strike them with terror and scatter their bones.
🎯 The wicked may seem powerful now, but God’s judgment will come.
📌 4. Hope for Salvation from Zion (verse 6)
➡️ “Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!”
➡️ The Lord will restore His people, and they will rejoice.
🎯 In the midst of moral ruin, hope still comes from God.
