Then I saw the Lamb open the first of the seven seals, and I heard the first of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, “Come!”

And I looked, and behold, a white horse, and its rider had a bow; and a crown was given to him. And he went out conquering and to conquer.

When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!”

And another horse came out, a fiery red horse, and to its rider was given power to take peace from the earth, so that people would kill one another; and a great sword was given to him.

When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, a black horse, and its rider had a pair of scales in his hand.

And I heard something like a voice in the midst of the four living creatures say, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; but do not harm the oil and the wine.”

When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!”

And I looked, and behold, a pale green horse, and its rider was named Death, and Hades followed with him. And authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

When the Lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and because of the testimony they held.

And they cried out with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O holy and true Master, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”

And a white robe was given to each of them, and they were told that they should rest a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and brothers, who were to be killed as they had been, was completed.

Then I saw, when the Lamb opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood.

And the stars of the sky fell to the earth like a fig tree casting off its unripe figs when shaken by a strong wind.

Then the sky receded like a scroll being rolled up, and the mountains and islands were moved from their places.

And the kings of the earth, the nobles, the commanders, the rich, the powerful, and every slave and free person hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains.

And they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the One who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.”

For the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?

🔑 Main Point of the Chapter

Jesus (the Lamb) begins to open the seals of the scroll that is in God’s hand. Each seal that is opened triggers great events, such as judgment, war, famine, death, and signs of the end times.

✨ Main Content

1. 🏇 Seal 1 – White Horse (vv. 1–2)

“And there appeared a white horse… its rider carried a bow and a crown…”

Symbolizes conquest or power.
Some interpret this as Christ, others as a false conqueror or the beginning of judgment.

2. 🟥 Seal 2 – Fiery Red Horse (vv. 3–4)

“To it was given power to take peace from the earth…”

Symbolizes war and violence.
The world is filled with bloodshed and chaos.

3. 🟫 Seal 3 – Black Horse (vv. 5–6)

“Its rider held a pair of scales…”

Symbolizes famine and economic hardship.
The prices of basic goods soar, while luxury goods remain untouched — social inequality.

4. ⚫ Seal 4 – Pale Horse (vv. 7–8)

“Its rider was named Death, and Hades followed after him…”

Symbolizes mass death through sword, famine, disease, and wild beasts.
A quarter of the earth is affected.

5. 🕊️ Seal 5 – The Souls of the Martyrs (vv. 9–11)

“I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God…”

The martyrs cried out for justice.
They were given white robes, and were told to wait a little while, because there would be more who would suffer.

6. 🌋 Seal 6 – Great Earthquake and Signs in the Sky (vv. 12–17)

“There was a great earthquake… the sun became black… the moon became red like blood…”

Cosmic signs: earthquake, the sky split apart, stars falling.
The great and the small hid themselves, afraid of the wrath of the Lamb.
They cried out:

“Who is able to stand?”

🎯 Meaning and Reflection

God’s judgment comes progressively and in measured form, showing His patience.
The world will experience great suffering before the second coming of Christ.
The martyrs are valued and remembered by God — their cries are not in vain.
No one can stand except those sealed by God, as will be seen in Revelation 7.
