Many believers hope their prayers will be answered immediately. Yet, true faith is often tested through time. Hebrews 6:12 reminds us to become “those who imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what God has promised.”
Patience does not mean being passive or giving up, but remaining faithful in doing what is right even when we have not yet seen the results. Abraham waited 25 years to see God’s promise about Isaac. Joseph had to go through betrayal and prison before becoming ruler in Egypt. They did not only believe, but also endured.
Faith without patience can make us rush into shortcuts that ultimately lead us away from God’s plan. On the other hand, patience without faith can turn into resignation without hope. The two must walk together so that we can see God’s promise fulfilled in His perfect way.
The waiting process often shapes our character more deeply than the answer to prayer itself. God is not only interested in what we receive at the end, but also in who we become during the process. In waiting, He teaches us to trust that His timing is always right.
Today, let us learn to combine steadfast faith with consistent patience. When the two unite, we will not only see God’s promise, but also experience a heart being shaped more like Christ’s.
Father, teach me to trust You fully while patiently waiting for Your timing. Shape my heart so it will not waver even when the process is long, and let my faith grow together with my patience.
