Everyone has surely experienced moments when life feels unfair. Maybe you work hard but still fail, while others who cheat succeed. Maybe you pray diligently, but the illness hasn’t healed, problems remain unresolved, and doors seem to be closed. In situations like this, many people begin to ask, “If God is good, why does my life feel like this?”
That question is not wrong. Even in the Bible, many figures also questioned it. In Habakkuk 1:2, the prophet Habakkuk said, “How long, LORD, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, ‘Violence!’ but you do not save?” This proves that feelings of frustration are human, and God is not angry when we ask honestly.
God Never Lets Go
When life feels unfair, we easily assume that God is silent. But the Bible reminds us that God is most active when we feel weakest. Psalm 34:19 says, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” So if your heart is weary today, it is not a sign that God is distant. Rather, He is near.
An example can be seen in the life of Job. He lost his wealth, children, and even his health. All this happened not because he sinned, but precisely because he was a righteous man. Job questioned God, but in the end, he learned that God still holds control even though he did not understand everything (Job 42:2).
God’s Justice Is Not Like World’s Justice
Often we measure justice based on what appears. But God sees deeper, farther, and wider than we do. In Isaiah 55:8-9, God says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.” So when we feel treated unfairly by life, it may be part of God’s plan to shape character, redirect steps, or prepare us for something greater.
What Can We Do When Life Feels Unfair?
- Stay faithful in small things. Don’t give up doing good even if the results are not yet visible. Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
- Trust that God remains just. God’s justice does not mean everyone gets the same share, but that everyone receives what is right according to His love and wisdom.
- Don’t compare your life. When we focus on comparing ourselves to others, we lose peace. 2 Corinthians 10:12 reminds us that comparing ourselves is not wise.
- Surrender and pray. Bring all your disappointment, anger, and hurt to prayer. Don’t keep it to yourself. Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God…”
Closing: God Still Exists, Even When Life Feels Unfair
Justice in the world may seem skewed, but God’s justice is never wrong. God knows every tear, every wound, every struggle you endure silently. He never neglects. He never sleeps (Psalm 121:3-4). When His time comes, you will understand that God never left you, even when you felt abandoned.
So today, if life feels unfair, remember: God is not finished working. And when He is done, you will look back and say, “Now I know, it was all not in vain.”
