In this world, many people compete to be the most prominent, the most popular, or the most liked. However, the Bible reminds us that God does not choose based on human judgment. Even when someone is not a favorite, not the first choice, God can still use them for His great plan.
The story of David is a real example. When Samuel came to Jesse’s house to anoint the new king, everyone thought one of his strong older brothers would be chosen. But God said, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). David was not even considered important enough to be called at that time. He was just a young shepherd in the field, not the family’s favorite. Yet he was the one God chose to be king.
This reminds us that human favorites are not the same as God’s choice. The world may not notice us, bosses may overlook us, even family might ignore us. But God sees the heart. He can use those who are underestimated to accomplish great things.
Joseph also experienced something similar.
He was not liked by his brothers, even sold as a slave (Genesis 37:28). However, through a long process, Joseph was used by God to save many people from famine.
When we feel like we are not the “most” in the eyes of people, do not be discouraged. God does not need perfect people; He looks for hearts willing to obey. Like David, like Joseph, God can use our lives even though the world does not place us on the favorites list.
So, do not let the lack of recognition from people make you doubt God’s calling. Remember Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 1:27, “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.”
If today you feel like you are not a favorite, remain faithful. It is precisely in unpopularity that God’s power can be more evident. God is not looking for the favorites; He is looking for those who are willing.
Lord, thank You because You do not see as humans see. Even though I may not be a favorite in the eyes of the world, I believe You can still use me for Your great plan. Help me to remain humble and faithful, so that my life only glorifies You. Amen.
