One of the things that often makes us waver in following the Lord is the desire to always be understood by others. We want everyone to understand why we serve, leave something behind, or take a certain step of faith. But the truth is not everyone will understand the calling God has placed in our lives, and that is okay.
Abraham is a real example. When God asked him to leave his land and his family for a land he had never seen (Genesis 12:1), not everyone around him understood that decision. Yet Abraham obeyed. Obedience to God is more important than explanations that people can accept.
Jesus Himself was often misunderstood. When He ate with tax collectors and sinners, many people accused Him of being on the wrong path (Mark 2:16-17). Yet Jesus knew who had called Him and for what purpose He had come. He did not live to please everyone, but to do the will of the Father.
There may be times when people question your decisions of faith: why you turn down a job offer that seems promising, why you give your time to ministry, or why you choose to live simply when you could live in luxury. To the world, those decisions may seem foolish. But to God, that is precious obedience.
Paul wrote, “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to
