Lalu Daud berkata, “Di sinilah rumah TUHAN, Allah kita, dan di sinilah mezbah untuk korban bakaran orang Israel.”

Daud menyuruh mengumpulkan orang-orang asing yang ada di negeri Israel, lalu ia menempatkan tukang-tukang untuk memahat batu-batu pahat yang akan dipakai untuk mendirikan rumah Allah.

Selanjutnya Daud menyediakan sangat banyak besi untuk paku-paku bagi daun pintu gerbang dan bagi tupai-tupai, juga sangat banyak tembaga yang tidak tertimbang beratnya,

dan kayu aras yang tidak terbilang banyaknya, sebab orang Sidon dan orang Tirus membawa sangat banyak kayu aras bagi Daud.

Karena pikir Daud: “Salomo, anakku, masih muda dan kurang berpengalaman, dan rumah yang harus didirikannya bagi TUHAN haruslah luar biasa besarnya sehingga menjadi kenamaan dan termasyhur di segala negeri; sebab itu baiklah aku mengadakan persediaan baginya!” Lalu Daud membuat sangat banyak persediaan sebelum ia mati.

Kemudian dipanggilnya Salomo, anaknya, dan diberinya perintah kepadanya untuk mendirikan rumah bagi TUHAN, Allah Israel,

kata Daud kepada Salomo: “Anakku, aku sendiri bermaksud hendak mendirikan rumah bagi nama TUHAN, Allahku,

tetapi firman TUHAN datang kepadaku, demikian: Telah kautumpahkan sangat banyak darah dan telah kaulakukan peperangan yang besar; engkau tidak akan mendirikan rumah bagi nama-Ku, sebab sudah banyak darah kautumpahkan ke tanah di hadapan-Ku.

Sesungguhnya, seorang anak laki-laki akan lahir bagimu; ia akan menjadi seorang yang dikaruniai keamanan. Aku akan mengaruniakan keamanan kepadanya dari segala musuhnya di sekeliling. Ia akan bernama Salomo; sejahtera dan sentosa akan Kuberikan atas Israel pada zamannya.

Dialah yang akan mendirikan rumah bagi nama-Ku dan dialah yang akan menjadi anak-Ku dan Aku akan menjadi Bapanya; Aku akan mengokohkan takhta kerajaannya atas Israel sampai selama-lamanya.

Maka sekarang, hai anakku, TUHAN kiranya menyertai engkau, sehingga engkau berhasil mendirikan rumah TUHAN, Allahmu, seperti yang difirmankan-Nya mengenai engkau.

Hanya, TUHAN kiranya memberikan kepadamu akal budi dan pengertian dan membuat engkau menjadi pemegang perintah atas Israel, supaya engkau memelihara Taurat TUHAN, Allahmu.

Maka engkau akan berhasil, jika engkau melakukan dengan setia ketetapan-ketetapan dan hukum-hukum yang diperintahkan TUHAN kepada Musa untuk orang Israel. Kuatkan dan teguhkanlah hatimu, janganlah takut dan janganlah tawar hati.

Sesungguhnya, sekalipun dalam kesusahan, aku telah menyediakan untuk rumah TUHAN itu seratus ribu talenta emas dan sejuta talenta perak dan sangat banyak tembaga dan besi, sehingga beratnya tidak tertimbang; juga aku telah menyediakan kayu dan batu. Tetapi baiklah engkau menambahnya lagi.

Moreover, you have very many workers: stonecutters, masons, carpenters, and men skilled in every kind of work

in gold, silver, bronze, and iron, beyond number. Arise and work! May the LORD be with you!”

Then David commanded all the leaders of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying:

“Is not the LORD your God with you? And has he not given you peace on every side? Indeed, he has delivered the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the LORD and before his people.
19
Now therefore set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God. Begin to build the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy vessels of God may be brought into the house built for the name of the LORD.”

1 Chronicles 22 is an important account of King David’s spiritual legacy, as he eagerly prepared for the building of the Temple — though God did not allow him to build it himself. ➡️ He directed them to build the house of God as a firm holy place
