King David said to the whole assembly: “Solomon my son, the one whom God has chosen, is still young and inexperienced, and the work is great; for the temple is not for man, but for the LORD God.

With all my ability I have provided for the house of my God: gold for the things of gold, silver for the things of silver, bronze for the things of bronze, iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood, onyx stones and stones for setting, black stones and stones of many colors, and every kind of precious stone, and in great abundance marble.
3
Moreover, because of my devotion to the house of my God, I now give to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, from my own gold and silver
4
three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the rooms,
5
that is, gold for the things of gold and silver for the things of silver, and for all the work to be done by the craftsmen. Who then is willing today to offer himself to the LORD?”

Then the leaders of the fathers’ houses, the leaders of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials over the king’s work offered willingly.
7
They gave for the service of the house of God five thousand talents of gold and ten thousand darics, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of bronze, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.
8
Whoever had precious stones gave them to Jehiel the Gershonite, for the treasury of the house of the LORD.
9
The people rejoiced because they had offered willingly, for with a whole heart they had made freewill offerings to the LORD; and King David also rejoiced greatly.
10
Then David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly. David said: “Blessed are You, O LORD, God of our father Israel, forever and ever.
11
Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty; indeed, all that is in the heavens and on the earth is Yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and You are exalted as head over all.
12
Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all; in Your hand are power and might, and in Your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.
13
Now therefore, our God, we give thanks to You and praise Your glorious name.
14
But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, and from Your own hand we have given to You.
15
For we are strangers before You and sojourners, as were all our fathers; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.
16
O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy name comes from Your hand, and all is Yours.
17
I know, my God, that You test the heart and delight in uprightness; therefore I have offered all these things willingly and with a sincere heart. And now I have seen Your people who are present here offering willingly to You with joy.
18
O LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of Your people, and direct their hearts toward You.
19
And to Solomon my son give a whole heart, that he may keep all Your commandments, Your testimonies, and Your statutes, and do all things, and build the temple for which I have made preparation.”
20
Then David said to all the assembly, “Bless the LORD your God!” And all the assembly blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers, and bowed down and prostrated themselves before the LORD and before the king.
21
On the next day they offered sacrifices and burnt offerings to the LORD: a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and very many sacrifices for all Israel.
22
Then they ate and drank before the LORD on that day with great joy, and they made Solomon, the son of David, king a second time, and anointed him before the LORD as ruler, and Zadok as priest.
23
Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in place of David his father; he prospered, and all Israel listened to his words.
24
All the leaders and mighty men, and also all the sons of King David, submitted themselves to King Solomon.
25
The LORD made Solomon exceedingly great in the sight of all Israel and gave him royal majesty such as had not been on any king before him over Israel.
26
Thus David son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
27
He reigned over Israel forty years; in Hebron he reigned seven years, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years.
28
Then he died at a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor; and Solomon his son reigned in his place.
29
Behold, the acts of King David, from first to last, are written in the records of Samuel the seer, and in the records of Nathan the prophet, and in the records of Gad the seer,

with all his reign and his might, and the times that came upon him and upon Israel, and upon all the kingdoms of the lands.
