Genesis 12:2 says, “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great; and you will be a blessing.”
The Lord never blesses us for our own benefit alone. Every blessing we receive is always meant to flow to others. Whether it is material blessing, health, talents, or even life experiences, God can use them to bless the people around us.
Abraham was called not merely to receive a promise, but so that through him all the nations on earth would be blessed. This principle also applies to us. The greatest blessing is not what we keep, but what we pass on.
Many people think blessing is always identical with money or possessions. Yet a sincere smile, a listening ear, a prayer lifted up for others are also blessings. God can use the simple things in our lives to become an answer for someone else.
When we share blessings, we are actually revealing God’s loving character. The world will see that we are different, not because our wealth is abundant, but because our hearts are willing to give. Jesus Himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).
Being a channel of blessing does not mean we always have to have much. Even in times of limitation, our willingness to share will please God’s heart. Remember the story of the poor widow who gave two mites in the temple; Jesus praised her offering because she gave with all her heart.
Today, let us reflect: is there a blessing God has entrusted to our lives that we can share? It could be time, attention, advice, prayer, or practical help. When we bless others, we are partnering with God to fulfill His plan on this earth.
Father, thank You because You have been so good to me. Teach me not to hold on to blessings for myself alone, but to use them to bless others. Make me a channel of Your love wherever I am. Amen.
