This question often arises when looking at the state of the world that seems chaotic, full of conflict, suffering, and injustice. Behind all this chaos, many people wonder, does God really have a plan? Or does everything just happen randomly, without divine control?
In fact, the Bible clearly shows that God is not only the Creator but also the Designer. This world is not the result of chance or a directionless experiment. God has purpose and intention in everything, even things that seem incomprehensible to humans.
The World Is Not a Product of Chance
In Genesis 1, we see how God created the world in an orderly and systematic way. From light, sky, sea, plants, animals, to humans, everything was created with order and purpose. Nothing was made haphazardly. All was perfectly prepared so that humans could live and interact with other creations.
God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26). This indicates that humans themselves are part of God’s plan. Even before humans were created, God had already considered their place, purpose, and identity.
A Plan That Is Not Always Visible
Sometimes we cannot see or understand God’s plan because of the limitations of human perspective. However, Romans 8:28 reminds us that “God works all things together for good to those who love Him.” This means even in difficulties, God is still at work. His plan does not stop just because the world is in chaos.
For example, Joseph who was sold by his brothers. For many years he suffered, but eventually he became the savior for his family and the nation of Egypt (Genesis 50:20). What initially seemed like a tragedy turned out to be part of a greater plan of salvation.
God’s Great Plan: Restoration
The core of God’s plan is not just about comfortable living on earth, but the restoration of the relationship between humans and Him through Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:10 states that God’s purpose is “to unite all things in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth, under one head.”
So yes, God has a great plan for this world: restoration, forgiveness, and salvation. He does not let the world run on its own without direction. He is present, active, and has purpose behind every event.
We Are Also Part of That Plan
Interestingly, God’s plan is not only about the “world” in general, but also about each individual personally. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.” This is not just for Jeremiah or the nation of Israel, but a principle that reveals God’s heart for His people.
God did not simply create the world and then let it run on its own. He is personally involved and invites all of us to take part in His great plan.
