Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the house of the LORD, the gate facing east. And behold, at the entrance of the gate were twenty-five men, and among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, the leaders of the people.

And He said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who devise wickedness and give evil counsel in this city,

who say, ‘Is it not near? Let us build houses again. This city is the pot, and we are the meat.’
4
Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, son of man!”

Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon me, and the LORD said to me, “Say, ‘Thus says the LORD: So you speak, O house of Israel; and I know what rises in your heart.
6
You have multiplied those whom you have slain in this city, and you have filled its streets with them.
7
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Your slain, whom you have laid in this city, are the meat, and this city is the pot; but I will bring you out of it.
8
You fear the sword, and I will bring the sword upon you, declares the Lord GOD.
9
I will bring you out of its midst and give you into the hand of foreigners, and I will execute judgments upon you.
10
You shall fall by the sword; I will judge you on the soil of Israel. And you shall know that I am the LORD.
11
This city shall not be a pot for you, nor shall you be meat within it; on the soil of Israel I will judge you.
12
And you shall know that I am the LORD, for you have not walked in My statutes, nor have you kept My rules, but have acted according to the rules of the nations around you.”
13
And while I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. Then I fell on my face and cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Ah, Lord GOD, will You make a full end of the remnant of Israel?”

Then the word of the LORD came to me:

“Son of man, your brothers, your relatives, and all the house of Israel, all of them, are those of whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘They are far from the LORD; to us this land has been given as a possession.’
16
Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: Though I have removed them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet I have been for them a sanctuary in the countries where they have gone,’
17
therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.’
18
Then when they come there, they will remove from it all its detestable idols and all its abominations.
19
And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within them; I will take the stony heart out of their flesh and give them a heart that obeys,
20
so that they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances and do them faithfully; then they shall be My people, and I will be their God.
21
But as for those whose heart follows after their detestable idols and their abominations, I will bring their conduct upon their own heads, says the Lord GOD.”
22
Then the cherubim lifted up their wings, and the wheels moved with them, while the glory of the God of Israel was above them.
23
And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city and stood on the mountain east of the city.
24
Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me back in the vision by the Spirit of God to the land of the Chaldeans, to the exiles. And the vision that I had seen departed from me
25
and I told the exiles all the things that the LORD had shown me.
🏛️🔥💔 Summary of Ezekiel 11 – Judgment on the Leaders and Promise of Restoration
Ezekiel 11 presents two great themes: judgment on the wicked leaders of Jerusalem, and a remarkable promise of restoration for the exiled people. The Lord declares that the city’s leaders have misled the people with false security and pride, but God will judge them directly. Yet to the exiled people, the Lord gives a hopeful promise: He will give them a new heart and a new spirit, so that they may return to obedience. The chapter closes with the glory of the Lord leaving Jerusalem, marking a divine departure.
📌 1. The Leaders Who Misled the People (verses 1–13)
➡️ Ezekiel saw 25 leaders before the house of God, including Pelatiah and Jaazaniah.
➡️ They said Jerusalem was like a “pot” that was safe, and the people like “meat” that was protected — a symbol of false security.
➡️ The Lord called them bloodsheders, and would drive them out and put them to death outside the city.
➡️ One of them, Pelatiah, died on the spot when Ezekiel prophesied.
🎯 God does not allow misleading spiritual leaders to remain without accountability.
📌 2. Promise for the Exiles: A New Heart (verses 14–21)
➡️ The Lord speaks comfort to the people who were carried away to Babylon — they will be restored.
➡️ The Lord will:
- Gather them again from the nations
- Give them a new heart and a new spirit
- Remove the heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh
➡️ The purpose: that they may obey His law and become His people.

➡️ The cherubim and the glory of the Lord rose from the city and stopped on the mountain to the east — believed to be the Mount of Olives.
