Then I looked, and behold, above the expanse that was over the heads of the cherubim there appeared above them something like a throne, in appearance like a sapphire stone.

And He said to the man clothed in linen, “Go in between the whirling wheels, under the cherub, and fill your hands with coals of fire from among the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.” So I saw him go in.

Now the cherubim were standing on the south side of the house when the man went in, and a cloud filled the inner court.

Then the glory of the LORD rose up from above the cherub to the threshold of the house, and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the glory of the LORD.

The sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty when He speaks.

And He commanded the man clothed in linen, “Take fire from among the whirling wheels, from among the cherubim!” Then the man clothed in linen went and stood beside one of the wheels.

And one cherub stretched out his hand from among the cherubim to the fire that was among them, took some of it, and put it into the hands of the man clothed in linen. He took it and went out.

The cherubim appeared to have the form of a human hand under their wings.

And I looked, and behold, there were four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside each cherub; and the wheels gleamed like the sparkle of beryl stone.

As for their appearance, all four looked alike, as if a wheel were within a wheel.

When they went, they could move in any of the four directions without turning as they went; for wherever the front one went, the others went after it, without turning as they went.

Their whole body, their backs, their hands, their wings, and the wheels were full of eyes all around, yes, the wheels of the four of them also.

As for the wheels, I heard them called “the whirling wheels.”

Each had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, the second the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

The cherubim rose upward. These were the living creatures that I had seen by the river Chebar.

When the cherubim went, the wheels went beside them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels did not turn away from beside them.
17
When the cherubim stood still, the wheels stood still; and when they rose up, the wheels rose up with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

Then the glory of the LORD departed from the threshold of the house and stood over the cherubim.

And the cherubim lifted up their wings, and as they went, I saw them rise from the earth, and the wheels beside them together with them. Then they stood at the entrance of the east gate of the house of the LORD, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.

These were the living creatures that I had seen beneath the God of Israel by the river Kebar, and I knew that they were cherubim.

Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings, and under their wings was what looked like the hands of a man.

As for the likeness of their faces, they were the same faces that I had seen by the river Kebar. Each one went straight ahead.
🔥👼💨 Summary of Ezekiel 10 – The Glory of the Lord Leaves the Temple
Ezekiel 10 describes one of the saddest moments in Israel’s spiritual history: the glory of the LORD leaving the Temple.
