The word of the LORD came to me:

“Son of man, prophesy and say, Thus says the Lord GOD: Wail, Alas for the day!
3
For the day is near; the day of the LORD is near, a day of clouds; it will be the time of the nations.
4
A sword shall come upon Egypt, and Ethiopia shall tremble when the slain fall in Egypt, and its wealth is carried away, and its foundations are torn down.
5
Ethiopia, Put, Lud, all Arabia, Libya, and the people of the land that is in league with them shall fall by the sword with them.
6
Thus says the LORD: Those who uphold Egypt shall fall, and the pride of her power shall come down. From Migdol to Syene they shall fall by the sword, says the Lord GOD.
7
They shall be made desolate in the midst of lands that are desolate, and her cities shall be among cities that are laid waste.
8
Then they shall know that I am the LORD, when I set a fire in Egypt and all who help her are destroyed.
9
On that day messengers shall go out from me in ships to terrify the confident Ethiopians, and they shall be in dread on the day of Egypt’s punishment; for, behold, it comes!
10
Thus says the Lord GOD: I will put an end to the wealth of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
11
He and his people with him, the most ruthless of the nations, shall be brought in to destroy the land; and they shall draw their swords against Egypt and fill the land with the slain.
12
I will dry up the streams of the Nile and will sell the land into the hand of evil men; and I will make the land and all that is in it desolate by the hand of foreigners. I, the LORD, have spoken.
13
Thus says the Lord GOD: I will destroy the idols and put an end to the images from Memphis; and there shall no longer be a prince in the land of Egypt, and I will put fear in that land.
14
I will make Pathros desolate, and set a fire in Zoan, and execute judgments on Thebes.
15
I will pour out my wrath on Sin, the stronghold of Egypt, and cut off the wealth of Thebes.
16
I will set a fire in Egypt; Sin shall tremble, and Thebes shall be taken, and its walls shall be broken down.
17
The young men of On and Pi-beseth shall fall by the sword, and the women shall go into captivity.
18
At Tahpanhes the day shall grow dark when I break there the power of Egypt, and her proud strength shall come to an end. A cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.”
19
And I will bring judgments on Egypt, and they shall know that I am the LORD.”
20
In the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me:

“Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and behold, it has not been bound up for healing, nor has a bandage been put on it to make it strong enough to grasp the sword.
22
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and I will break his arms, both the strong one and the one that was broken, and I will make the sword fall from his hand.
23
I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them through the lands.
24
I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put My sword in his hand, but I will break Pharaoh’s arms, and he will groan before him like a man mortally wounded.
25
Yes, I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but Pharaoh’s arms will fall limp. Then they shall know that I am the LORD, when I put My sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he stretches it out against the land of Egypt.
26

Ezekiel 30 continues the prophecy against Egypt and its allies, foretelling the coming of the “Day of the Lord” as a day of wrath filled with darkness and destruction. The Lord will send Nebuchadnezzar and his armies to destroy Egypt and other great cities such as Memphis and Zoan. The nations that relied on Egypt will fall together, and Egypt’s pride will be brought low.
