In the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me:

Son of man, raise a lamentation over Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and say to him:
You likened yourself to a young lion among the nations. But you are like a crocodile in the seas; you churned up your rivers, and muddied the water with your feet, and stirred up the mud of its streams.

Thus says the Lord GOD: I will spread my net over you with a great company of many nations, and I will bring you up in My dragnet.
4
I will cast you onto the land, I will throw you out on the open field. I will cause all the birds of the sky to settle on you, and I will satisfy the beasts of the whole earth with your flesh.
5
I will scatter your flesh on the mountains, and fill the valleys with your carcasses.
6
I will drench the land with your flowing blood, yes, even the mountains; and the ravines will be full of it.
7
When I blot you out, I will cover the heavens and make their stars dark. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light.
8
All the shining lights in the heavens I will darken over you. I will bring darkness upon your land, declares the Lord GOD.
9
I will trouble the hearts of many peoples, when I bring you as captives among the nations, into lands you have not known.
10
I will make many peoples appalled at you, and their kings will shudder because of you, when I brandish My sword before them. They will tremble continually, each one for his own life, on the day of your downfall.
11
For thus says the Lord GOD: The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon you.
12
I will cause your multitude to fall by the swords of mighty men, all the most ruthless among the nations. The pride of Egypt shall be brought low, and all its multitude shall be destroyed.
13
I will destroy all its beasts from beside its great waters; the foot of man will no longer muddy them, and the hoofs of beasts will not stir them up.
14
Then I will make their waters clear, and cause their rivers to flow like oil, declares the Lord GOD.
15
When I make Egypt desolate, and the land is stripped of all that fills it, and all who dwell in it are destroyed, then they will know that I am the LORD.
16
This is the lamentation that shall be sung; the women of the nations shall sing it; they shall sing it over Egypt and over all its multitude, declares the Lord GOD.

In the twelfth year, in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me:
18
Son of man, utter a lamentation — you, together with the women of the great nations — over the multitude of Egypt, and bring them down to the lowest parts of the earth, to meet those who have gone down to the pit.
19
Whom do you surpass in beauty? Go down and lie with the uncircumcised!
20
They shall fall among those slain by the sword, and all her multitude shall lie with her.
21
The mighty chiefs, with their helpers, shall speak of him from the midst of Sheol: They have gone down and lie still, the uncircumcised, slain by the sword.
22
There is Assyria and all her company, all around her grave; all of them are slain, fallen by the sword.
23
Her grave is set in the deepest part of the pit, and her company is all around her grave; all of them are slain, fallen by the sword, those who spread terror in the land of the living.
24
There is Elam and all her multitude around her grave; all of them are slain, fallen by the sword, the uncircumcised who have gone down to the lowest parts of the earth, who once spread terror in the land of the living. They bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.
25
A bed is prepared for her among those slain, with all her multitude around her grave; all of them are uncircumcised, slain by the sword. For terror of them had been spread in the land of the living, and they bear their shame with those who go down to the pit; they are placed among those slain.
26
There is Meshech and Tubal and all her multitude around her grave; all of them are uncircumcised, slain by the sword, because they spread terror in the land of the living.
27
They do not lie with the mighty warriors who fell of old, who went down to Sheol with their weapons of war, whose swords were laid under their heads and whose shields were set upon their bones; for the terror of the mighty warriors was in the land of the living.
28
You shall lie among the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword.
29
There is Edom, her kings and all her princes, who were placed with those slain by the sword, though they were mighty; they are laid with the uncircumcised and with those who go down to the pit.
30
There are the chiefs of the north, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who went down in shame with the slain, though by their might they had caused terror in the land of the living; they lie uncircumcised with those slain by the sword, and bear their disgrace with those who go down to the pit.
31
Pharaoh will see them all, and he will be comforted over the fate of the multitude that followed him. Pharaoh and all his army are slain by the sword, declares the Lord GOD.
32
For I caused terror in the land of the living, he is laid among the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword. Pharaoh and all his multitude, declares the Lord GOD.

Ezekiel 32 is the final lament for Pharaoh and the nation of Egypt, describing their downfall in a sad and shameful way. Pharaoh is compared to a great crocodile who will be caught and thrown onto the land. The Lord foretells that Egypt will be destroyed by the sword of Babylon, and in the end go down to the realm of the dead together with other great nations that have been destroyed.

➡️ Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, will destroy Egypt with his sword

🎯 The nations that became symbols of worldly power will be destroyed so that the Lord may be known as the only Ruler.
📌 3. Pharaoh Descends to the Realm of the Dead (verses 17–32)
➡️ After his death, Pharaoh will go down to Sheol (the realm of the dead) together with other great nations:
- Assyria
- Elam
- Meshech & Tubal
- Edom
➡️ All of them are described as mighty warriors who have perished and been buried
➡️ They all share the same fate — falling by the sword and by pride
🎯 No matter how great a nation’s glory may be, all must submit to death and to God’s justice.
