Then the word of the LORD came to me:

“Son of man, set your face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy against them!
3
Say: Mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD! Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains and the hills, to the ravines and the valleys: Behold, I will bring a sword against you, and I will destroy your high places.
4
Your altars shall become desolate, and your incense stands shall be broken; and I will cast down your slain before your idols.
5
I will lay the corpses of the people of Israel before their idols, and I will scatter your bones around your altars.
6
Wherever you dwell, your cities shall become ruins and your high places shall be desolate, so that your altars may be broken down and laid waste, your idols shattered and brought to nothing, your incense stands cut down, and the works of your hands wiped away.

And the slain shall fall among you, and you shall know that I am the LORD.
8
But some, those who escape the sword, I will leave alive among the nations, when you are scattered through the lands.
9
Then those of you who escape will remember Me among the nations where they are carried captive, when I have broken their adulterous hearts that turned away from Me and their eyes that went after their idols; and they will loathe themselves for the evil they have done and for all their abominations.
10
And they shall know that I am the LORD; I have not spoken in vain when I said I would bring this disaster upon them.”

Thus says the Lord GOD: “Clap your hands and stamp your feet, and cry out, ‘Alas!’ Because of all the evil and detestable deeds of the house of Israel, they shall fall by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.
12
He who is far away shall die by pestilence; he who is near shall fall by the sword; and he who remains and is preserved shall die by famine. Thus I will pour out My wrath upon them.
13
And you shall know that I am the LORD, when their slain lie among their idols all around their altars, on every high hill, on all the mountain tops, under every green tree, and under every leafy oak, the places where they offered pleasing aroma to all their idols.
14
I will stretch out My hand against them, and their land, wherever they dwell, I will make desolate and waste, from the wilderness to Riblah; and they shall know that I am the LORD.”
