Then the word of the LORD came to me:

“You, son of man, say: Thus says the Lord GOD to the land of Israel: An end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.
3
Now the end is upon you, and I will pour out my wrath upon you, and I will judge you according to your ways, and I will repay you for all your abominations.
4
My eye will not spare you, and I will have no pity, but I will repay you according to your ways, and your abominations shall be among you. Then you shall know that I am the LORD.

Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, disaster after disaster comes!

An end has come, the end has come upon you; behold, it comes!
7
Doom has come upon you, O inhabitant of the land! The time has come, the day is near—tumult, not joyful shouting on the mountains.
8
Now I will soon pour out my anger upon you and spend my wrath on you; I will judge you according to your ways and repay you for all your abominations.
9
My eye will not spare, and I will have no pity; according to your ways I will repay you, and your abominations shall be among you. Then you shall know that I, the LORD, am the one who strikes.
10
Behold, the day is coming; disaster will come forth, violence will bud, and pride will blossom.
11
Violence has risen up as a rod of wickedness. None of them shall remain, neither their abundance nor their splendor; their beauty shall be removed.
12
The time has come, the day draws near! Let the buyer not rejoice, and let the seller not mourn, for wrath is upon all their multitude.
13
For the seller shall not return to what he has sold, even though they are still among the living, because wrath is upon all their multitude; it will not turn back, and no one will preserve his life because of his iniquity.
14
Blow the trumpet and make everything ready! But none goes to battle, for my wrath is upon all their multitude.
15
The sword is outside the city, and pestilence and famine are within. Whoever is in the field shall die by the sword, and whoever is in the city shall be consumed by famine and pestilence.
16
And if any of them escape, they will be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, each for his own iniquity.
17
All hands hang limp, and all faces grow pale with fear.
18
They will put on sackcloth; trembling will cover them. Shame will be upon all faces, and all heads will be shaved as a sign of mourning.
19
They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be regarded as unclean. Their silver and gold will not be able to save them on the day of the LORD’s wrath. They will not satisfy themselves with it, and their bellies will not be filled with it. For it has become a stumbling block that brought them into guilt.
20
They adorned themselves with gold and silver, and the beauty of these ornaments led them into pride. From their gold and silver they made their vile images and their detestable idols; therefore I will make their gold and silver unclean for them.
21
I will give it into the hands of foreigners as plunder and to the wicked of the earth as spoil, and they will defile it.
22
I will turn My face away from them, and robbers will defile My precious house; they will enter it and defile it,
23
and bring destruction upon it.
For the land is full of bloodshed, and the city is full of violence.
24
I will bring the most ruthless nations, and these nations will take possession of their houses; I will put an end to their pride, which their strength had produced, and their holy places will be defiled.
25
Terror comes, and they seek peace, but there is none.
26
Disaster upon disaster will come, and report upon report will be heard. They will long for a vision from the prophet; instruction will perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.
27
The king will mourn, and the prince will be clothed with horror, and the hands of all the people of the land will grow weak with fear. I will deal with them according to their conduct, and I will judge them according to their judgments. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”
