Faithful in the Small Things: Finding Value in God’s Eyes

Our world often measures a person’s worth by how great their achievements, positions, or accomplishments are. However, in God’s view, the measure of success is entirely different. God does not look for the greatest person, but for someone who is willing to be faithful. Even when abilities are limited, faithfulness is what makes us valuable in His eyes.

Jesus once said in Matthew 25:21, โ€œWell done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.โ€ Notice that the one praised is not the most intelligent or influential servant, but the one faithful in small matters.

Often we feel inferior because we see others who are more talented, better speakers, or more successful. But God does not compare us to others; He only looks at our hearts. Faithfulness in simple things like praying, serving unnoticed, or remaining honest when no one is watching, are things that are precious to God.

We can also learn from the life of Moses.

Moses initially felt incapable when God called him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. He said, “Who am I?” (Exodus 3:11). But what God was looking for was not his rhetorical ability, but a heart willing to obey. From an ordinary shepherd, God used Moses to become a great leader because he faithfully followed His commands.

Likewise, the Apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 4:2: “Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy.” This means that what matters most in the life of a believer is faithfulness, not fame.

Faithfulness is proof of love. If we truly love God, we will remain faithful even when no one is watching, even when the path feels difficult, even when the results are not yet visible. It is faithfulness that will cause our lives to bear abundant fruit in due time.

So, do not feel that you have to be great to please God.

As long as we are faithful, God can use our lives in ways beyond our expectations.

Lord Jesus, thank You because You do not demand me to be great, but You only ask me to be faithful. Teach me not to grow weary in doing small things faithfully, because I know You see and appreciate them. Use my life for Your glory. Amen.
