“Truly, you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.

I also have understanding, as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Who does not know such things as these?

I am a laughingstock to my neighbors, I, who called on God and He answered me; the righteous and blameless man is a laughingstock.

A contempt for the one in misery—such is the thought of the one who lives at ease—a blow to the one whose foot slips.

But the tents of destroyers are secure, and those who provoke God are at peace, those who carry their god in their hand.
7
But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the air, and they will tell you.
8
Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; even the fish of the sea will declare to you.

Who among all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this;
10
that in His hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind?

Does not the ear test words, as the palate tastes food?
12
Wisdom is said to be with the aged, and understanding with those who have lived long.
13
But with God are wisdom and might; He has counsel and understanding.
14
If He tears down, none can rebuild; if He shuts a man in, none can open.
15
If He withholds the waters, they dry up; if He lets them loose, they overwhelm the land.
16
With Him are strength and victory; the deceived and the deceiver are both His.
17
He leads counselors away stripped, and makes judges fools.
18
He loosens the bonds put on by kings, and binds their waists with a rope.
19
He leads priests away stripped, and overthrows the mighty.
20
He silences those who are trusted, and takes away the discernment of the elders.
21
He pours contempt on princes, and loosens the belt of the strong.
22
He uncovers the deep things of darkness, and brings deep gloom into the light.
23
He makes nations great, and then destroys them; He enlarges nations, and then leads them away.
24
He takes away the understanding of the leaders of the earth, and makes them wander in a pathless waste.
25
They grope in darkness without light; and He makes them stagger like a drunkard.”
🧠🗣️💥 Summary of Job 12 – “You Are Not the Only Ones with Wisdom!”
In Job 12, Job answers sharply the mockery and accusations of Zophar (Job 11). He rejects his friends’ narrow view that suffering always means punishment for sin. He says that wisdom does not belong to them alone, and God can do whatever He wills, even allowing the wicked to prosper and the righteous to suffer.
This chapter shows Job beginning to resist the friends’ stock theology and affirming that life’s experience often stands in tension with religious dogma.
📌 1. You Are Not the Only Ones with Understanding (verses 1–6)
➡️ Job speaks with sharp irony:
“You are the people, and wisdom will die with you!”
➡️ He admits that he has become a laughingstock though he prays and is clean
