Then Zophar the Naamathite answered and said:

“Should not a multitude of words be answered? And should a man full of talk be justified?
3
Should your boastings make men hold their peace? And when you mock, shall no one put you to shame?
4
For you say, ‘My teaching is pure, and I am clean in Your eyes.’
5
But oh, that God would speak, and open His lips against you,
6
and declare to you the secrets of wisdom, for it is manifold in understanding. Then you would know that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.
7
Can you fathom the depths of God, or discover the limits of the Almighty?
8
They are higher than heaven—what can you do? Deeper than Sheol—what can you know?
9
Their measure is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
10
If He passes by, and shuts up, and calls an assembly, who can hinder Him?
11
For He knows deceitful men; He sees wickedness, though He does not consider it closely.
12
But a senseless man may gain understanding, when a wild donkey’s colt is born a man.
13
If you set your heart aright, and stretch out your hands toward Him;
14
if iniquity is in your hand, put it far away, and do not let unrighteousness dwell in your tent,
15
then indeed you shall lift up your face without blemish; yes, you shall be steadfast and shall not fear.
16
For you shall forget your misery; you shall remember it as waters that have passed away.
17
Your life shall be brighter than the noonday; though there be darkness, it shall be as the morning.
18
You shall be secure, because there is hope; yes, you shall look around and take your rest in safety.
19
You shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; many shall seek your favor.
20
But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall have no way to flee; their hope shall be only the giving up of the breath.”

In Job 11, Zophar the Naamathite – Job’s third friend – finally speaks. But instead of comforting, Zophar becomes the harshest and most cutting in accusing Job. He insists that Job must be more sinful than he admits, and that the Lord has even punished Job less than he deserves. Zophar emphasizes that God’s wisdom is far deeper than human understanding, and urges Job to repent so that he may be restored.
This chapter shows how truth without love can wound, even when the doctrine itself is correct.
📌 1. Zophar Accuses Job of Speaking Too Much (verses 1–6)

“Does much speaking make a person innocent?”
➡️ He says Job is too self-justifying

“If God Himself were to speak… He would declare that you are guilty”

“If you prepare your heart and lift up your hands to Him…”
