In Job 14, Job reflects on the frailty of human life and the seeming harshness of God’s judgment. He realizes that human beings are weak, their lives are brief, and full of suffering — but why does God count human faults so strictly?
Job asks bitterly: “After death, is there still hope?” He feels like a tree that can grow again, but a human being cannot.
