Rise up, plead your case before the mountains,
and let the hills hear your voice!

Hear, you mountains, the LORD’s complaint,
and give ear, you foundations of the earth!
For the LORD has a complaint against His people,
and He is contending with Israel.

“My people, what have I done to you?
How have I wearied you? Answer Me!

For I brought you up out of the land of Egypt
and redeemed you from the house of slavery,
and I sent Moses, Aaron,
and Miriam before you.

My people, remember now what Balak king of Moab planned,
and what Balaam son of Beor answered him,
and what happened from Shittim to Gilgal,
so that you may know the righteous acts of the LORD.”

“With what shall I come before the LORD
and bow myself before God on high?
Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings,
with calves a year old?
7
Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams,
with ten thousands of rivers of oil?
Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression,
the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”

“He has shown you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you:
but to do justice, to love faithfulness,
and to walk humbly with your God?”

Listen, the LORD calls to the city—
wisdom is to fear His name—:
“Listen, O tribe and assembly of the city!

Can I forget the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked,
and the short measure that is accursed?
11
Shall I acquit the man with dishonest scales
or with a bag of deceitful weights?
12
Her rich men are full of violence,
and her inhabitants speak lies,
and their tongue in their mouth is deceitful.
13
Therefore I have begun to strike you down,
to make you desolate because of your sins.
14
You shall eat, but not be satisfied,
and hunger shall remain within you;
you shall put away something, but not save it,
and what you save I will give to the sword.
15
You shall sow, but not reap;
you shall tread olives, but not anoint yourselves with oil;
you shall tread grapes, but not drink wine.
16
For you have kept the statutes of Omri,
and all the works of the house of Ahab,
and you have walked in their counsels;
therefore I will make you a desolation,
and your inhabitants a hissing;
so you shall bear the scorn of the peoples.”

Micah 6 portrays a heavenly court: God summons His people to judgment, not to punish blindly, but to confront them with His love and justice. The people are called to remember what God has done, and God shows that what He desires is not burnt offerings, but to live justly, lovingly, and humbly. This is the heart of true worship.
📌 1. The LORD Holds Court (verses 1–2)

“Listen to the voice of the LORD… are there still houses of the wicked storing up treasures gained by deceit?”
- The Lord rebukes structural sins:
Dishonest scales
Violence, lies, deceit
- The nation has built a corrupt system, twisting justice and oppressing the weak
