(4:14) Now, you must raise up a wall for yourself;
the siege ramp has been built against us;
with a rod they strike
the cheek of the ruler of Israel.

(5:1) But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
you who are least among the clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for Me
one who will rule over Israel,
whose origin is from of old,
from ancient days.

(5:2) Therefore he will give them up until the time
when she who is to give birth has given birth;
then the rest of his brothers
will return to the people of Israel.

(5:3) Then he will stand and shepherd them
in the strength of the LORD,
in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God;
and they shall dwell secure,
for now he is great
to the ends of the earth,

When Assyria comes into our land
and when it treads on our soil,
then we will raise against it seven shepherds,
even eight leaders of men.

(5:5) They shall shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword
and the land of Nimrod with the drawn sword;
he will deliver us from Assyria,
when it comes into our land
and treads within our borders.

(5:6) Then the remnant of Jacob shall be
in the midst of many peoples
like dew from the LORD,
like showers on the grass,
which do not wait for man
and do not depend on the sons of men.

(5:7) Then the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations,
in the midst of many peoples
like a lion among the beasts of the forest,
like a young lion among flocks of sheep:
wherever it goes, it tramples down
and tears in pieces, and there is none to deliver.

(5:8) Your hand shall be lifted up against your adversaries,
and all your enemies shall be cut off!

declares the LORD,
that I will cut off your horses from among you
and will destroy your chariots.

and throw down all your strongholds.

(5:11) I will cut off sorceries from your hand,
and fortune-tellers shall no longer be found among you.

(5:12) I will cut off your carved images
and your pillars from among you,
and you shall no longer bow down

and destroy your idols;

(5:14) and I will take vengeance
in wrath and in fury,
